I've had the chestnut gelding for 2 days now. I've named him Chex. He's a really sweet horse. The vet recognized him.

Apparently, Chex was an eventing champion. Someone just dumped him on the side of the road. Who would do that?

He's been recovering well. Mom bought a black and purple halter for him. April has been doing great.

I take her out of her stall and tack her up English and ride her in the arena. I work on a bit of dressage with her.

April is the best. I'm in love with her. Mom tells me not to get too attached to all of the horse, because we might have to sell either Chex or April.

Once my horse rescue becomes more popular, we'll have enough money to keep 10 personal horses.

I'm excited to get this horse rescue started. I wish It would just get started faster. I put April away in her stall and walk away from the barn.

A shrill whinny comes from the trees next to the arena. Then, I see a skinny bay horse limping away from the trees.

I run back into the barn and grab Chex's halter, then go to where the mare is. I put the halter on her and put her in the stall next to April.

I go over to the house to get my mom. She calls the vet.

---------------1 hour later-------------

The vet finishes examining the mare he determines that the mare has been horribly beaten in the past and is extremely dehydrated.

I give her some water and some hay. She drinks all of the water and eats all of the hay. I reach my hand into the stall to pet her, but she  spooks and goes to the back of her stall.

This is going to take some work.
