The police were unable to find Joker. When they interrogated people at the facility, everyone denied knowing anything about the situation. Serena's been getting more and more worried. I go outside to find her sitting on the paddock fence.
I go over and sit beside her. I can't even try to comprehend how she feels right now. It feels like I can't do anything to make her feel better. I'm just helpless. I want to say something, but decide that it's best to keep my mouth shut for now.
"Don't even think about telling me that it's 'going to be alright.'" she says. I smile and look at her.
"I wouldn't dream of it." I reply. we sit in silence for a while longer. All of the horses were turned out an hour ago, but I still can't see any of them. The emptiness scares me. What if today all that I loved disappeared. I would have nothing.
As if she could read my mind from miles away, April comes trotting out from a group of trees and right over to me. I rub her face in comfort. It all started with her and I wouldn't change a single thing.
I hop down from the fence and mount April. Before I turn away I look at Serena.
"Do you want to get on too?" I ask.
"Not today." she says, shaking her head.
I push April into a gallop and ride to the far end of the paddock where I find the rest of the horses: Chex, Maddie, Smoke and Cassy. They all look up and walk over to April and I. It feels good to know that they will all be here tomorrow. I won't ever let them go.
A/N
Heyoooooo. So this is the last chapter of High Hopes. I realized that I would miss writing about Hayley and her extremely unlikely adventures, so I've decided to make a sequel. Hopefully it will be written better than any of my books (unlikely.) I'm not sure what the sequel will be called yet, so stay tuned. While you wait, you should read some of my other unrealistic books like: Born to Ride, Born to Fly, the Dream series, ect. Yes, I am promoting myself. Every single one of my books have typos, grammar mistakes and other stuff, so if you find any please comment NICELY and I will fix the mistakes. Thank you for reading this book. I will try to start the sequel soon.
<3 See ya ma home dizzles.
