I'm going to work April again today. I lead her out of her stall and tack her up. When we are in the arena I mount her then warm her up.
Her canter is so smooth. After I take her over a 1'9" jump I dismount and untack her. She's a good girl, and I don't think that I could ever sell her.
Next I go to get Maddie out of her paddock and grab my lungs whip and a butt load of treats. She might never be ridden.
I know that sounds crazy, but I had our vet look at her the other day, and her legs are extremely damaged and it would be to much to bear for her to carry the excessive weight.
I would just want her to be a good pet that would be fun for kids, so I'm teaching her tricks. The first one will be to hug.
I put a treat in one hand and see if she will hug me. I know that this trick is easy and it won't take long for her to learn.
I'll work on one trick for a few weeks, then move on to another.
-----------------1 month later--------------
Maddie has been doing so well with her tricks. She already knows how to hug and smile. Right now I'm teaching her to lie down.
She hasn't fully learnt to lie down yet, but she will get down on her front legs. She's going to make a great companion to someone.
