After the movie, which was AWESOME by the way, we walk out hand in hand. I look up at the sky. The sky is dimming, and the sun is getting ready to set.
"So, where to now?" Keira grins.
"I know the perfect place," I smirk. I take her sweater and wrap it around her head, covering her eyes. "But it's a secret... no peeking!" I say playfully.
It takes a bit, but I lead her to my favorite place of all time. I open the gate and tell her to stay as I drag out a bench. I sit her down next to me and remove her blindfold.
She gasps, "The baseball field?" But that's not all. Keira and I are sitting next to each other on one of the benches from the dugout. I had placed the bench right on home plate, facing the setting sun.
"It's so beautiful!" She breathes. "Look at the sun... so big and orange..."
I find myself struggling for words as well. So I put my arm around her instead, and let the golden light wash over us. She rests her head on my shoulder. I massage her arm as she turns to face me. I notice how pure her eyes are. Not a fleck of gray any where. Just solid blue.
"Thanks Hudson," she whispers. "Today was one of the best days of my life."
"Me too," I say softly.
We both lean in, closer and closer, shortening the distance between us. I've never had my heart pound so fast in my life. Just before the longing becomes unbearable, the space between us fills. The warmth of her mouth sends jolts of electricity through me. And after what feels like just a second, the kiss ends. We stare at each other, and I feel myself falling into her eyes as our lips meet again, the golden rays of sunlight spilling over the trees and onto our joined faces.
