My class and I talk quietly amongst ourselves as we shuffle to the auditorium for the school wide assembly.  Kyra's not here, she said she had to get something straightened out with the principal.  I take my seat in the red plushy chairs.  We wait a few minutes and then the principal walks onto the stage.  Tapping the mic, he says,

"Hello Rosenblatt 6-12 School!" The student body murmurs. "I know all of you are just dying to get back to class" the 'crowd' chuckles at this, "so I'll make this short and sweet. But first, one of your fellow students has something to show you. Come on up here!" The principal motions someone from the front row. My jaw drops when I see Kyra, my girlfriend, go up onto the stage. He hands her the mic.

"Hi everyone! You look like you could use a good laugh. Well, I actually have a funny story about yesterday. But instead of boring you with some long story, I'll tell it through a video," she grins innocently. My mouth still open, I narrow my eyes as Kyra clicks away at the laptop. My eyes grow larger as a video pops up on the pull down screen.

"So, yesterday," she says, clutching the microphone, "I was in my room, minding my own business, when Hudson... yes, the Hudson Burke, bursts into my room. He got down on one knee and asked me this," she taps a key on the computer and my face appears on the screen.

"Will you MARRY ME?" The whole school roars with laughter as she plays the video over and over. My mouth hangs open even farther, and I feel my cheeks grow hot. She filmed me!? Not only is that totally humiliating to begin with, but Kyra SERIOUSLY messed with the video. She made my voice even more lovey dovey, and she made it look like I'm crying. Kyra even added a ring box to make it look real. WHAT JUST HAPPENED!? Why would she do this!?

Over the roar in the auditorium, my eyes meet hers. She grins at me smugly and gives me a kissy face. She taps the keyboard again and Kyra's voice blares through the speakers.

"What is the date?"

It shows a lovey dovey me saying, "Right now!" And I watch in horror as I 'carry' her bridal style out the door.

HOLY MOLY, she is good at video editing. I DIDN'T DO ANY OF THAT! The whole school is laughing and laughing.  Oh my God, why would she do this!?
