I wake to the familiar sound of my alarm clock.  I grin, and throw myself out of bed. I chuckle, "Mom!  I just had the craziest-"

Wall.  Brick wall.  Crumbling ceiling.  Dusty feeling.

It wasn't a dream.

I slump back down, hands almost touching the floor, and I sludge over the the kitchen where my mother is standing.  The smell of coffee fills my nose.

I plop down onto one of the chairs at the dining table.  My mom greets me in a bathrobe, and sets a bowl in front of me.  I stare downwards at the bowl of mush in front of me.  I wrinkle my nose, "What IS this?"

"It's cereal, honey.  Shredded Wheat."

"But- but, where is the sausage?  The scrambled eggs?  The donuts!?" I spew.

"Honey, I know it's is a little different," she kneels and lays a hand on my shoulder, "but please eat your breakfast.  We have lots of unpacking to do." She turns and starts to walk away, then stops and faces me.  "You are skipping school today.  Tomorrow your father and I will enroll you into your new school. And since today is Friday, that will give you a few days to settle in."

After she leaves the room, I face my attention to the "food" before me.  I poke the mush drowned in milk with my spoon.  Odd, thick texture.  I scoop some of the cereal up, and place it in my mouth.  Oh God.  I force the food down my throat.  Do people actually eat this?  It's nothing like the bountiful breakfasts back in Hotwire Falls.  Hotwire Falls.  Wyatt!  He and Keira are in second period right now, moving on with there lives.  Have they forgotten me?  Oh God, does Keira have a new boyfriend?  NO!  So help me, I will... bro chill out.  I CAN'T CHILL OUT!  KEIRA DUMPED ME!  Dude you are getting ahead of yourself.  You are making all of this into a fantasy... you need to-

I shove that second, peaceful voice out of my head.  GOD, I CAN'T BELIEVE SHE DUMPED ME!  Just a few days ago, I was in her room, snuggling with her.  But no!  Aw grr, oh geez!  I race to my room and grab my phone.  I type furiously,

"Keira, we're done."

I hit send and throw my phone to the floor.
