The moment Yveltal unleashed Oblivion Wing, the night sky turned crimson, as if reality itself was bleeding. A dark surge of energy pulsed through the battlefield, sending shockwaves rippling through the air, cutting through flames and smoke like a tidal wave of pure annihilation. The sheer force of it distorted the ground, causing deep cracks to splinter outward like veins of darkness.
Even the very air around them seemed to be swallowed into a void, thick with pressure, like the world itself was suffocating under the weight of the legendary Pokémon's wrath.
"Greninja, dodge!" Ash shouted.
Greninja barely managed to leap aside as the attack crashed into the ground, an explosion of red and black energy swallowing the spot where it had stood. The impact was devastating, leaving a massive, jagged crater that pulsed with lingering dark energy. Debris launched into the air like missiles.
The shockwaves rippled outwards, toppling weakened buildings nearby. The sheer force of it made every hair on their bodies stand on end, a primal warning of danger unlike anything they'd faced before.
"This is insane!" Shauna gasped, shielding her eyes from the blast. "That thing's power is on another level!"
"It's not just powerful—it's absorbing energy," Clemont realized, adjusting his cracked glasses. His voice trembled with urgency. "Oblivion Wing drains the life force of its targets and heals Yveltal in the process! If we don't take it down fast, it'll be unstoppable!"
The mysterious man smirked, his coat billowing as he took a step forward. The flames lit his twisted expression. "Ah, it's so amusing watching you struggle. This... this is the beginning of the end for you."
"We're not going down without a fight!" Alain growled, stepping forward. "Charizard, Dragon Claw!"
With a fierce roar, Charizard surged through the air, its claws crackling with draconic energy. It struck Yveltal's wing in a blazing arc, but the legendary Pokémon barely flinched. Instead, its massive red eyes locked onto Charizard, and in an instant, a pulse of dark energy erupted from its body, sending Charizard tumbling backward through a wall of smoke and fire.
"It's too strong," Trevor whispered, fear creeping into his voice.
Ash clenched his fists. "We're not backing down! We've fought against impossible odds before, and we'll do it again!"
Serena stepped up beside him. "We're with you, Ash. All of us."
Paul narrowed his eyes. "Then we hit it with everything we've got! Electivire, Thunder!"
"Blastoise, Hydro Cannon!" Gary ordered.
"Lucario, Aura Sphere!" Korrina called out.
"Braixen, Fire Blast!" Serena added.
"Roserade, Energy Ball!" Aria shouted.
"Gardevoir, Dazzling Gleam!" Astrid chimed in.
A barrage of powerful attacks rained down on Yveltal from all sides. Sparks lit the battlefield. Fire and water collided with dark energy in a spectacular light show. The ground trembled as explosions erupted across the field. For a moment, it seemed like they had done real damage—but then, from within the smoke, two massive wings unfurled, revealing Yveltal unscathed.
"It's barely hurt?!" Astrid gasped, her voice tight with panic.
The mysterious man chuckled darkly, shaking his head. "You really don't understand, do you? This isn't just any Yveltal. This is power beyond your comprehension. And now... it's time for you to disappear. Yveltal, Dark Pulse!"
The sky roared as a vortex of darkness swirled in Yveltal's mouth before exploding outward. The force was indescribable. Ash and the others barely managed to shield themselves as the impact sent debris flying in every direction.
Buildings crumbled. The earth cracked beneath their feet. A wave of dread washed over everyone.
"We can't keep this up!" Sawyer shouted, his breath ragged. "It's not weakening!"
Tierno pulled a frightened civilian behind cover. "There's too many of them, and that thing's unstoppable!"
Serena stumbled beside Ash, who caught her before she fell. She looked up at him, breathless. "Ash... what do we do now?"
Ash looked up at Yveltal, still hovering like a god of death over the battlefield. His heart pounded. But just as despair threatened to settle in—
A flash of green light erupted in the distance. The ground trembled again, but this time... it felt different. Empowering. Hopeful.
From the shadows of the collapsing city, a new figure emerged.
A Zygarde Core floated in the air, its hexagonal eyes glowing with a fiery determination that pierced through the surrounding darkness. But it wasn't alone. From all across Lumiose City, streams of emerald light began to ascend, twisting and spiraling toward the core. Fragments of Zygarde's body, hidden until now, burst free from the ruins and rubble, each piece glowing as it joined the others.
Massive serpentine coils, crystalline wings, armored plates—one by one, they assembled with eerie precision. The ground itself pulsed with life as Zygarde's true form began to take shape.
The wind picked up, a whirlwind of light and leaves circling above their heads as the massive form of Zygarde 100% Forme emerged—majestic, towering, and ancient. It was not just awakening; it was returning as the guardian of balance. The light from Zygarde pushed back the darkness like a tide, and for the first time in hours, the air felt breathable again.
The mysterious man's smirk vanished. For the first time, there was fear in his eyes. "No... This wasn't supposed to happen."
Ash's eyes widened. "Zygarde... it's awakening!"
Paul took a step forward. "Now the odds are even."
"No," Alain said, watching the titanic dragon tower beside Yveltal. "They've just shifted."
"That's our chance!" Clemont said, rallying the others. "We can use Zygarde's energy to fight back!"
Serena nodded fiercely. "Then let's do this—together!"
As the two legends stared each other down—destruction versus order—the sky cracked with thunder. The wind roared around them. Even the rubble seemed to hold its breath. The final battle was no longer coming.
It had already begun.
