Pack Dirus is tucked away on one of the most remote beaches in the California state. Located low in the state, this pack territory barely inches in to the Mexico border along the coast. Wolves in this pack range from thicker to shorter furs, tight knit families, or those wanting a more comfortable environment within their pack.
Pack Dirus is one of the newly officiated packs (as of mid March 2025) of the states but they've always kind of been there. Dirus is a pack kept under the radar and for good reason. Within this beach and sandy setting this pack holds wolves known as Aenocyon Dirus Dirus or put simply - Dire werewolves.
Home to quite literally the largest wolves in the United States, even surpassing the Allegheny wolves, this is a pack not to be messed with. With around forty wolves with the Dirus blood (<-world wide) and around 120 wolves without, this pack isn't very large in the grand scheme of things. That doesn't mean that they don't pack a punch.
Wolves with the Dirus blood hold unique qualities in comparison to the average werewolf. With obvious larger size in both human and wolf forms there also comes the thicker bone marrow and much more intense bite force than a regular wolf. Another irregularity that singles out these wolves are their unique and distinctive fur characteristics. In their more sandy environment they also have wider and more "puffy" paw pads allowing them to move around better in the sand than a regular wolf.
This pack, overall, is pretty mellow. They are very open and typically allow other packs to come to their more privated beaches so long as neutrality remains in place. Beneath the mellowness of the pack there is the Watchers, a select group of twenty Dirus wolves who specializes in stalking outsiders and people possibly stepping in to their territory. Whether neutrality is in place; the pack is always keeping an eye on those within its borders. - - - Long before the start of the first packs there was Pack Dirus which ranged in the hundreds amongst its bloodlines. This pack once flourished with life of exceptional wolves but due to their unique coats, skull shapes, and overall ability to adapt to many environments they were hunted. As the Dire werewolves began to be hunted and gathered as trophies they slowly began to separate only be easier kills for the humans hunting them. Eventually in the year 1417 when the Hunters banded together as a mass group that's when the Dire wolves were hunted to the point where people assumed their bloodlines were died down. It wasn't until 2025 that Pack Dirus resurfaced and the forty wolves with Dirus blood came to be known once more. - - - Dirus wolves of the pack all carry the name "Dirus" as a surname as well as their main last name. So for example the last name "Smith" would be "Dirus-Smith." It is just simple tradition of the pack to do this.
