Nine Werecats, that's the best way to start. The Ennead, quite literally meaning 'a group of nine' are what many people call the "Anti-Duodenary".
This group of Werecats are all part of the same 'pack' or 'pride', whatever is best suited for them. The only thing is not a single one know one another. There is one select leader, one that is chosen strictly by the previous leader and they must rule until their death.
The "leader" of this group is titled "Top Claw" but no other member will ever know who they are. So what's the point of this leader? Well the Top Claw knows of every member of Ennead and makes sure no one is falsely claiming they are an Ennead member. This is also the only member of this group that can be directly contacted by an outsider.
So what exactly is the mysterious group of Werecats? Well, they're assassins. Each and every one of them are aside from the leader. Eight assassins, one overseer. They are actually considered myth but truthfully they are not. They are killers of any species and they do not care much for title or authority.
This group is also considered the opposite of the Duodenary but they share the same coin. Much like the Duodenary, each member of The Ennead is gifted in some way. Now it may not all be goddess-given gifts but each member is gifted in something. Whether it's complete knowledge of weaponry to an actual gift of power, they have something.
In The Ennead you are pledged to never be mated, to never reveal your true identity, or to admit you are part of the group. Each member is selected by the Top Claw through a massive number of tests and trials that are held publicly each year. Now if you are chosen you have to swear an oath and if that oath is broken, that member is killed by another.
The Ennead also isn't just a group of assassins to be paid top dollar and get a job done. They are trained to always get a job done and if the one chosen for a mission fails they are executed immediately.
