Like a flower sinking into the river
I threw it down and made a wish
For people to be kinder
And for my lingering sadness to wash away
I like to think I sent that purple flower on an adventure
Maybe it'll reach my aunt all the way in saint Louis
Or maybe, it'll just sink
But I watched it drift away until I couldn't see it
I like to think it lasted as long as the wind continues to blow
I saw letters carved into the support beam holding the fence by the river
It said I LOVE MOM 🩷 72
I wonder
What whoever wrote that
Was thinking
I wonder what their story is
Were they a child?
Why carve I LOVE MOM in such neat words into a pole
I wonder
