Long ago, it was decided that I'm not allowed to nurture you.
But, oh my dreams, my wonderful dreams
With each day that flutters by, the monotonous extremes
I find I want to embrace you
Without light, without hope, I am just a good student
Nothing more to gain
Each night in bed I'm imprudent, I let myself go
For such joy let me hang; I want to embrace you
More than a silly daydream, a ray of hope
In my boring life, the hope of more
I want more
I want to write, I want to leave Michigan, I want to smile, I want to live with the person I love, I want to meet new people, I want to enjoy my life,
and I want to own my dreams.
