Once they were alone, Logain felt as though he could breathe a sigh of relief. He wasn't used to having so many people watching him. As an introvert, Logain tried to avoid parties like this. He would rather be at home, curled up underneath one of his blankets while reading a book or practicing magic. However, he also wanted to be here with Casimir. The prince needed his support, and he wouldn't abandon him. Besides, if things continued to go this well, then they would be engaged by the end of the night. The thought excited Logain, but it also scared him. There would be many obstacles they would have to face together after tonight.
When the warlock turned to Casimir once more, he was taken by surprise by how close the prince was. Before he was ready, Casimir wasted no time slamming his lips against Logain's. The warlock was stunned, but it didn't take him long to kiss him back. He hugged the prince, enjoying the feeling of his embrace as they kissed. Logain was afraid of someone walking in on them, but that also didn't stop him from kissing Casimir. He couldn't suppress the moan that escaped his lips when he felt Casimir's tongue brush against his.
Logain pushed the prince away from him slightly, his face on fire. "W-we probably shouldn't do that here, Prince Casimir. If we get caught . . ."
"Then that will work out in our favor," Casimir teased. He leaned close to Logain once more and planted soft kisses on his bare neck and shoulder. He didn't kiss his skin for long, but it was enough to make a shiver run down Logain's spine. Casimir chuckled and whispered in his ear, "You enjoy it when I touch you like this."
It wasn't a question. By Logain's reaction and by how he didn't move away, Casimir knew that if they were somewhere more private, then the warlock would have let him take things a step further. It was tempting to ditch the party and take Logain to his room, but he knew they couldn't do that. Casimir would only dig himself a deeper hole if he left the party before his engagement was announced. He was already on thin ice with his mother, so he didn't need to give her another reason to be mad at him.
Reluctantly, the prince pulled away. He looked down at Logain's dress once more, a smirk forming on his face. "Do you want to join me later after the party? It should be fun to get you out of that dress and in my bed."
Logain blushed from his words. "Casimir! I . . ."
The warlock was at a loss for words. Though the prince was being a pervert, Logain couldn't help but like the idea of spending the night with Casimir. He crossed his arms and looked away. He couldn't come up with a good argument when he wanted it. He couldn't deny that he wanted Casimir inside of him. His face felt like it was on fire, and he quickly put his hands to his face to cover it. Logain was embarrassed by the thoughts floating around his head.
Casimir chuckled and was about to respond, until he was interrupted when they heard the sound of the balcony door opening. The prince glanced back at the intruder, annoyed by the interruption. He was even more annoyed when he saw Oliver awkwardly standing there. The second prince seemed shy in the presence of Logain, which was odd for the prince. Oliver normally wasn't shy around anyone.
"Um, Mother would like to speak with you, Casimir. Alone." Once Oliver had said his piece, he was quick to leave and return to the ball.
The prince sighed. "She always knows how to ruin the moment. I'll be back. You can join the party if you'd like, but I'm sure you would rather wait for me here."
Casimir knew him well enough to know that Logain wouldn't join the party again without him. The introverted warlock would rather stay outside and wait for him, away from all of the watchful guests. He had enough of their eyes on him for one night.
Logain gave him a reassuring smile. "I'll be fine right here. Go talk to your mother."
The prince nodded and gave the warlock another kiss before leaving him. Logain watched him as he left. He didn't want to be without him, but he didn't have a choice while the royal family spoke with one another. He hoped Casimir wouldn't get in trouble for spending time with only him. The prince was supposed to be getting to know the other women who attended the party instead of only spending time with him. Yet, the queen should have been happy that Casimir was taking interest in a 'woman'. Maybe they were about to announce Casimir's engagement
He sat down on one of the benches and waited for the prince to return. Logain took a deep breath and tried to clear his head. He couldn't think negatively, or else something bad would happen. Things were going to work out for them; he was sure of it. At least, that was what he tried to convince himself. It was hard to think positively when things always seemed to go wrong in his life. When Logain thought he could be with someone he loved, things never worked out for him. He prayed this time would be different.
As Logain waited, he heard the balcony door opening once more. It was too soon for the prince to return, but Logain couldn't help but get his hopes up. He was only disappointed when he turned around just to see his new enemy walking onto the balcony.
Amaris wore his long white hair down, and he was dressed in fancy robes fitting of someone from the church. The warlock glared at the man. He knew Amaris would be at the ball, but he still hoped he wouldn't see him. He wanted to avoid this man, but it looked like things couldn't be that simple. Whether he liked it or not, Logain and Amaris were now tied to each other because of Casimir. There was also the business with Tristan that needed to be settled.
Logain couldn't hold back his tongue as he asked, "What the hell do you want?"
The clergyman rolled his eyes at Logain's attitude. "I only came out here to ask if you'd like to dance with me."
"Why the fuck would I want to do that?" Logain stood up and crossed his arms. Amaris was mad if he thought Logain would ever dance with him. It seemed out of character for the clergyman to even ask Logain such a question. He had to be up to something.
"Because your prince is getting an earful from his mother about dancing with other women, and you two are being suspicious as all hell by only spending time together. Maybe if the queen sees you with someone else, then she'll get off Casimir's back. So, dance with me, and we can both help him," Amaris commanded.
Logain was right to suspect that things wouldn't go as smoothly as he hoped, and Amaris did have a point. Logain and Casimir only spent time with each other since the beginning of the ball. Of course, it would raise the queen's suspicions. Whether Logain wanted to spend time with others or not, he knew it would help Casimir. Reluctantly, Logain took the arm that Amaris held out to him.
Neither man could stand the other, but they were doing this for Prince Casimir.
