Chapter 20: in destress

It happened so quickly. The scene unfolded before my eyes once again.
Derek getting ready to shoot Jack, Jack's horrified look, me crying my eyes out, and then a shot. And another. And one more. Before I knew it I was out.

"She should be fine."

"Yes you can come down to see her.

"She's jus resting right now."

"Yeah. Okay bye." I ironed both my eyes to find myself in the infirmary in the agency. The soft blanket hugging my side. I saw the door open.

Jack. He's alive.
Rose is there too. She's limping slightly. "Jack?" I call out. His face lights up as he runs over to me and hugs me tightly. I bury my face into his clean polo shirt. We finally let go and I hugged Rose. Once we were dine hugging I sat up. "What happened?" I ask, rubbing my eyes to clear my grogginess. "You two were kidnapped by Derek and Lisa. You had the tracking device I planted into your clothes, we found you through that. By the time we got there, Jack was held at gunpoint and our snipes shot both of them down." Rose informed calmly. I nodded in response. I looked at Jack and smiled at him. He was alive. My best friend didn't die. "I'll leave you two alone for a bit." Rose said. She turned back and winked at me as she left. I scooted over so that he could sit next to me. "What about the Synthia case? Did we solve it?" I ask, leaving my head agains his shoulder. He leaned agains put my head.

"Derek and Lisa needed our attention. They though what better way to do it then kill Synthia. The device we found...that was some sort of encrypted sort of computer bug. They listen to her conversations to tracks where she was the night she died." He said softly. "That's horrible. They killed an innocent girl just to get the Agency's attention. What about why they weren't dead?" I asked softly. "Revenge. Their son died in a field mission and Losa couldn't have anymore kids after that. They wanted to destroying the company." He said, I could feel his body tense up. I shivered when he furnished his sentence. The agency was all we knew. Rose took us in and became a mother we never had. We loved her....even though she could still be a pain in the ass at times.

"Come on, we should probably go out to see the agency." Jack whispered in my ear. I nodded and he helped me up as I stood up from the bed. I grabbed his hand and we untwined our fingers together as we walked out of the infirmary. Once we walked out we were greeted with applause firm the teen field agents and the upcoming ones. We were congratulated and hugged by everyone. I saw rise firm the balcony of he office and she gestured for us to go inside.

After talking for a minute to the rest of the agents we walked up to Roses office and took a seat in front of her.
"We're very glad that you too are back and safe. Are you to feeling okay?" She asked sweetly. We both nodded our heads, other than the bruised in Jacks face and my black eyes were alright. We were still physically fit and ready.

"Great. I'm glad you're back."

"Thank you. We are too."

"I'm glad. So since you're feeling good and everything is fine with both of you, you have a case to complete in a week. You start tomorrow."

You've got to be kidding me.

"I'm here. Where are you?" I whisper into my earpiece.

"In the back. We're all good." Jack whispered back. I nodded and released my fingers from the earpiece. I peered into the dark room. There was too guys at the table packing up drugs into school backpacks.

Really? Backpacks? Way to out the high in high school guy

"I thought I heard I heard something." One gruff voice says. "No one is here. You're too damn paranoid." Another gruff voice said. They both co tuned oacking up the drugs.

This is way to easy.
"How much can I buy for June backpack?" I ask, blending it I the shadow of the room. The tow guys spin around to face me. I smirked and pulled out tow guns and pointed it at them.

"Don't make a move." I said, stepping closer to them. I looked between. The two scared guys. One of them lunged for me and I shot him in the leg. He collapsed onto the floor, holding his leg, the other guy slowly got into the ground right next to the other guy. Jack came in With another guy in handcuffs who had a nasty bruise in his jaw. I stopped over the other guy and handcuffed the scrawny dude. The other guy was handcuffed and the ambulance was immediately there to take care of him and send him off to jail.

God I love my job.

"Nice going Scar." Jack said bumping my fist. I bumped back but beige I could pull away he grabbed my hand and pulled me a little closer to him. "What are you doing?" I ask suspiciously.

"Okay....so....I."

"Don't forget to breath Jack."

"Right...so I wanted to ask you a question for a while now and...."

"Spit it out dude." I grunted.

"Scarlett...will you go in a date with me?"

Yay! Go me! Two chapters in one day. Thank the lord.
Anyways it's almost August which means that I have school coming up.
*cue the black confetti*
I will be making an epilogue after this chapter so stay tuned.
I'm actually going to miss this story:(
So once school starts I will try to make new stories and update them as soon as I can but exams are a thing that will happen so that will take up precious writing time....but don't worry, I will still upload and mane stories and all that.
