Then I guess it's back to us, oh cameraman, swing to focus
In case I lost my train of thought, where was it that I last left off?
***A/N: SO SORRY THIS IS LATE GUYS!! Something came up irl so it's getting posted today instead of the chapter hint for the next chapter. The next chapter should be up tomorrow!***
"Oh, my God." Brooklyn stated under breath while the other girls talked over her, her eyes were wide as the realization hit her like a train and everything began to add up. "Oh. My God."
Both the girls stopped at looked at Brooklyn who was shaking her head. "What?" The two asked simultaneously.
"It's... it's Mark." She stated under her breath. "I think I need- I think I need to go."
"What, why?" Zola asked. "Are you okay?"
"I-uh-yeah. I'm fine. I just-I think I need to go."
"Well, do you want me to come with you?"
"No, you can stay. I'll be fine." Brooklyn picked up her phone and texted Lexie who picked her up about ten minutes later.
"Brooks, what happened? Why didn't you want to stay?" Lexie asked as the two climbed into the car and drove away.
"Is Mark my dad?" Brooklyn asked without missing a beat. She wanted to get straight to the point. "Because you left Seattle 15 or 16 years ago, and I am 15 years old and it's obvious you two were a thing and then you left, you had a baby and never looked back because-oh my God. Mom! Why didn't you tell me?"
Lexie drove in silence gathering her thoughts. She looked at her daughter in quick glances from the road and back before finally speaking. "Brooklyn, I-"
"No! Don't start making excuses. You knew who my dad was all along! You knew exactly who to call and you knew that he could have been there! You knew that and didn't ever tell him! I grew up without a father because you were fucking scared!?"
"Brooklyn Alexandra! Watch your tone with me! I get that you're pissed but I am your mother!"
"You are a liar. You've been lying to me since the moment I was born!" Brooklyn started to feel tears well up in her eyes as Lexie pulled up in the driveway. The minute the car stopped Brooklyn was out of the car and inside, slamming the door of the bedroom her and her mother were occupying, and locking it. It was the one place she knew she would be alone. Suddenly, it hit her. She could know for sure. Her birth certificate was somewhere in her mother's suitcase. She needed it to get on the plane. Rifling through the bag she came across it. This was the moment of truth. Reading it over she saw it printed there in bold black letters, "Father: Mark Sloan". "Why would she do this?" She whispered to herself.
As Brooklyn sat in silence she couldn't help but imagine what kind of life she would have if Mark were still in the picture. She couldn't help but think about the whole new life she would have. Maybe she would have grown up in Seattle around her family. She would actually know everyone out here. She would know the city like the back of her hand. She wouldn't have spent countless hours imagining what her dad was like, what he looked like, how he treated her. She would have know that. She wouldn't be falling into whatever slump she seemed to be. Her life would be completely different. Hopefully better.
Walking into the house behind Brooklyn, Lexie called for her but there was no stopping her. So she walked into the kitchen to let the teen blow off some steam alone. "What was that about?" Meredith asked.
