"Brooklyn. Where are you?" She heard a voice call from the front door. Lexie had just returned from taking Zola and Sofia to their respective houses and Brooklyn wasn't in the kitchen or living room like she should have been.
Brooklyn immediately slipped out of the bathroom. She knew that her mother would worry and never trust her alone if she didn't answer immediately. They were both obviously still feeling repercussions from the incident a few months ago. "Bathroom." She stated simply but almost hostile.
"What do you want for dinner?" Lexie asked. Brooklyn just shrugged, her arms still crossed over her chest and a death glare pointed to Lexie. At this point, Lexie sense something was off. Her voice as she continued was raised in question. "Okay. How was your day?"
"Fine." She shrugged her face still stoic.
"Okay, what is it?"
"What?" Brooklyn acted confused, as if nothing was different while also trying to make it painfully obvious that she was massively angry.
"You're pissed about something. Really pissed. What is it? Did I do something?"
Brooklyn narrowed her glare her facial expression remained unmoved. "So..." Brooklyn looked up from ground biting her bottom lip, "when the hell were you going to tell me you were pregnant?"
Lexie stopped dead in her tracks and looked at Brooklyn. She was stunned. It took her few seconds to formulate the words. "I was planning on tonight but you seem to have already found out. H-how-how did you do that by the way?"
"Found the pregnancy tests. They weren't mine so I put two and two together. Did you at least tell Mark this time?"
Lexie glared at her. Her brow was furrowed in anger. "Yes. I was just waiting until after the ultrasound to tell you, which I got yesterday." Lexie went over and pulled the sonogram out of her purse, glancing at it before she handed it to Brooklyn. "I'm nine weeks."
Brooklyn took the picture from her and glared at it before realizing that her being angry wasn't going to change anything, and she smiled a little. "What are your bets, boy or girl?"
"I don't know. I kind of want a boy. I think Mark would like a boy too." Lexie shrugged. "So you aren't mad?"
"Being mad isn't going to change anything, but it's a lot to take in. I was pissed that you didn't tell me but I get why." Brooklyn looked at her. "Besides I always thought it'd be kinda cool to have a little brother or sister. I didn't think it would be 16 years younger than me but hey still cool." Brooklyn looked down at her phone when it buzzed.
Mark: "Hey kiddo. Did your mom tell you the big news?"
Brooklyn: "Yeah. People are probably more impressed when you tell them when you're going to be a big sister when you're like six though."
Mark: "Probably true. But you get the same outcome."
Mark: "So what are you feeling, boy or girl?"
Brooklyn: "A little brother would be cool."
Mark: "We'll know in a couple of months. Don't tell anyone for a few weeks."
