Chapter 11: Peetas Song

KATNISS POV:

It's like I can't speak.
"Katniss?" Peeta takes the book from my hands. "What happened?"
"I don't know. I thought I was daydreaming and then I got curious of something." I snatch the book from him.
"And I had a right to be." I show him the last page. "Why did you take this book out the library?"
"You.. You.. Remember?" He asks.
"It must have been some of my memory coming back." I admit. His face lights up.
"Do you think it's just gonna keep coming back?" Peeta asks.
"I think so." I suddenly feel a huge wave of happiness come over me. I close the book and put it back on the shelf.

"So what's with the book? I mean you said something about it, in the memory?" He looks at me and we start walking together.

"Well when we were both 6 we made a promise to always be best friends." He laughs. I stare at him.
"How lame." I chuckle. I was a weird child.
"Anyway, I came on holiday with your family, we came to the capital actually, and we was in a meadow. I gave you a dandelion to symbolise our promise."

I look at him weirdly. "You gave me a weed as a promise?" I ask him.
"Oh come on." He says. "I was six. And you liked it. You said 'that's just what I need and dandelion in the spring' and then my brother heard us and wrote a Poem and story about us two, with that title."

His brother wrote that book? And poem?
"Aww. Remind me to thank him." I say.

Peetas about to say something when my bag gets chucked at me by Annie.
"I was t going to carry that bag around any longer." She sighs.
"Why because it wasnt matching colours with your outfit?" Finnick mocks.
"Yes." Annie answers. "Glad you understand." And that shut Finnick up.

We're walking over to our lockers when Tyler decides to show up.
The boys obviously chat to him as usual. But he seems rather happy and I can't help but thinking that Cara had found him.
"Why you so happy?" I ask. I see Annie look at me.
"I'm just happy. Can't I be happy. There's not reason."  He says quickly. And I have to do this..
"*cough* CARA *cough*"

He looks a me suspiciously.
"Come on! Tell?" I says. He tries to keep a straight face for a while.
"How did you know." He whines.
"Because, I'm Katniss Everdeen, I know everything." I laugh. I may have said that to loudly because a group of girls run up to me.

"Your Katniss everdeen?" The shout and get out there magazines.
"Oh yeah have you seen this?" I say to Finnick and Peeta standing the other side of the corridor. The girls see them and turn back to me.

"Your friends with Peeta and Finnick?" One of them asks.
"We'll finnick said my cousin. And I hate Peeta." I joke. Peeta laughs and the girls stand there with there mouths open.
"Hes like the hottest guy in school." She says.
"And I'm the most sarcastic." I say.
"Wait you were joking?" One of them says. Then the bells goes. They all bid me goodbye before running off.

"So you hate me huh?" Peeta says.
"Shut up." I reply and playfully push him.

Annie has the window seat at the back left of the class room. That's good for me because I get seated next to her. Being at the back means I can doodle all lesson and the teacher won't notice.

Speaking of teacher, Mr Abernathy is an interesting teacher. He's always stumbling round the class and half way through the lesson he walks over to his desk and passes out. When his head hits the table it makes a loud thud and it causes me to look up from doodling.

"Is he okay?" I ask.
"Yeah, he drinks a lot." I look at her shocked.
"He does this all the time?" I ask. Annie nods.
"He's our home room teacher as well." She adds.
