KATNISS POV:
It was just a normal day. I mean I had English and maths. Then p-e and geography. But for the last lesson of the day a girl approached me.
"Johanna," she stated with a smirk.
"Katniss," I say. I ignore her smirk. I shrug it off. And after I tell her my name she walks off.
At lunch I find the group sitting around the table.
'Cara is technically part of the group but Johanna isn't and she's sitting at our table.' - this is what Annie said to me this Moring. if it was true then why is Johanna at our table. But I decided to just ignore this seen as she seems like a nice person. Vaguely.
Anyway the group is playing truth or dare. And I sit down just as Peeta gets asked.
"Truth or dare?" Johanna says slyly.
"Truth." Says Peeta confidently.
"Do you have a crush on anyone?" Annie rushes. Peeta nods and Johanna blushes. And this confuses me but I let it slide.
"Who?" Annie squeals.
"That would be another question now wouldn't it?" Peeta says a bit to proudly as he smiles to himself. And then he asks Johanna something and I zone out. My visions focuses on Peeta's hand which is reaching to the left of him to grab Tyler's phone. Tyler is to busy making out with Cara to notice.
While Johanna is performing her dare (which is to do a cheerleading routine on the top of the Jocks table) I see peeta under the table go on Tyler's phone. He changes the password then puts it back next to Tyler.
What was he doing?
When I'm done with my lunch I go and find Spencer. We go to the sports block to do some practice before the bell goes. I get out of practice a couple of minutes early and after I say goodbye to Spencer I walk over to the field where there is currently football and cheerleading practice. I sit on the bench and take in what little sun there is while I read a book.
"Hey!" Someone shouts and I jump in shock. When I jump I drop my book. A boy bends down and picks it up. "Im Cato." He informs me.
"Katniss," He gives me the book back and I shake hands with him. As I do this one of his football friends run over
"Cato what are y-- hey," His friend smiles at me. "Your the new girl? I'm Marvel." I shake hands with him.
Some more of their friends run over and It for some reason makes me stutter when talk.
Its quite nice that I make friends with a lot of people instead of turning them into enemies. All the boys go back to their coach when they are called apart from Cato. He smiles at me and the sun outlines the chiselled features on his face. HIs jaw line could cut ice, I swear.
"Would you, maybe, want to grab a coffee with me sometime?" He asks. And I feel it starting again. I don't quite know what it is but its like something inside me demands me to say NO. Maybe im just to full of fear. But I hate this feeling. Its like a sudden rush or panic. I got the same feeling when Gale asked me out.
"Urm, im sorry.." I start. "But no,"
"Why not?" He frowns. Oh My Lord. How does he still look that amazing when he is frowning.
"I..." Quick Katniss! Think of something. Anything. "Im to busy to being to be seeing anyone right now. its not your fault."
He sighs. " I feel bad now. I may of asked at the wrong time or-"
"Its not you!" I try to explain but he wont let me.
"NO." He murmurs. "Its okay-" Cat o turns and walks away from me.
"Its not you fault its my fault," I call after him. "Just like the car crash." I mumble as I stand there frozen as I relive those painful seconds.
I shake my head as if it will make my memorise fall off the face of the earth.
Then the bell sounds.
So I head to the music block feeling sad and full of regret. I could of handled that better.
When we get to the music room there is a whiteboard on it has a list of pairs that we need to get into. Im with Johanna. I Guess it could be worse.
When Johanna arrives she's in her cheerleading uniform with two girls; Clove and Glimmer, they are the head cheerleaders and are in the careers group. Behind them is Cato and Marvel. Oh Great.
Cato sees me and takes a second glance, he then whispers something to Clove and she laughs and tells Glimmer and Johanna, who smirks and glares and me with evil in her eyes. I know there's a plan or some sort forming. They whole of the careers pack stares and me so I look somewhere else. When that failes and I get my notepad out and starts doodling.
Johanna sits down next to me and smiles sweetly.
"So how is lover boy?"
"Lover boy?" I repeat and raise my eyebrows.
"Peeta," she replies and I roll my eyes. What does she want?
"Why?" I question.
"You don't know who I am do you?" She sniggers.
"Your Johanna," I say. "Isn't that it."
"Call Peeta over here." She orders.
"Do it yourself," I snap. And so she calls Peeta over. He takes a double glance and sits down as if battling with him self.
"Will someone tell me what's going on?" I say frustrated.
"She's his ex," Annie murmurs from behind me. When did she get here?
I turn around and see Annie silently laughing.
So what if she's his ex.
Is that supposed to bother me?
