Okay guys, back to poetry. This one's a family metaphor poem. Thanks for reading, please vote, comment, and follow, and enjoy!

My mother is the smell of sugar

Apple pie in the summer, cookies in the winter

Sometimes flaring up, like when

We add too much cinnamon

And burn our tongues

My father is a mouse, clicking away

Computer light drowning his features

As he slays demons and alters worlds

My sister is a hippocampi

Rare and beautiful, part of two worlds

My cats are protective ghosts

Watching the windows

Guardian angels

And I am as I always have been

A book

Half full of words,

Sometimes half empty

An unfinished story
