I'm Sorry

Okay so I meant to set myself a limit of 50 poems but then I wrote this and I did't feel like starting a new collection just yet (isn't that the cry of writers everywhere? ;D). I was mostly playing around with formatting when I wrote this but please still comment, vote, and follow. Thanks for reading!!!

I'm sorry

his eyes whisper

he's sorry for the late-night lies

for the sound of glass hearts shattering

and all the silent screams

I'm sorry

          mine reply

sorry for the countless laughs and sun-filled days

          sorry for the wallpaper, stained

          (with charcoal, of course)

after I captured every star-struck moment

Sorry, sorry, sorry

the words hang in the air,

a life raft

neither or us will reach for first

it's a stalemate of the worst kind

and I remember

when daddy laughed

and said that people don't really

play to the bitter end

in chess

but I guess we do

we're both drowning in the void,

sitting and watching,

listening to the clock count down

the the tally of little soldier boys,

dead in a field of blood

but we fight to the Last Man Standing

unspoken apologies

are our only tombstone

Sorry, sorry, sorry
