"I'll get it!" Lilly screamed running towards the front door. All her family members knew who it was but she made sure to welcome her guest in before her parents got the chance to scare him half to death.
Lilly opened the door finding a slightly nervous but still smiling, yeah-yeah at her doorstep.

Before she got the chance to peck his cheek her father emerged from the kitchen scaring the two teens.

"Come on in son. I don't bite" Mr.Phillips said never breaking eye contact with the guest of honor.

Yeah-yeah was slightly uncomfortable by the direct stare, he wanted nothing more but to hide behind his girlfriend, but what kind of impression would that lead on Lillian's parents. He need them to think.. No actually to know that he would be there for their daughter.

A few years ago he was a boy that never even thought about girls and now here he was with a girlfriend at her house for dinner. He now had two things that meant the world to him. He wasn't gonna screw this up although after he tells Lillian what been eating his mind for months now everything might go downhill.

"Oh you're here! And just in time dinner is ready. I wasn't sure what you like so I made Steak, I hope that's fine?" Lilian's mom (Martha) cooed.

"That's fine, I love steak" Yeah-yeah sweet talked. Which earned him a smirk from Lillian

"Great" Martha relaxed. She guided the two teens into the dinning room area with Mr. Phillips trailing behind hopelessly. He wanted to give Yeah-Yeah the Stern if you hurt my daughter talk but there was no time, they were all scurrying to the dinner table.

The first thing Lillian seen once she turned the corner going into the dinning room was her brother, Julian. He had a miserable look on his face showing he'd much rather be anywhere else but here.

Yeah-yeah stiffened once he saw his enemy sitting down sending daggers in his direction. It wasn't that he was scared of Julian because he wasn't. Just being around him wasn't his favorite places to be.

Lillian noticed his change in demeanor and laced her small hands in his, she couldn't help but notice how perfect they fit together.

Mr and Mrs. Phillips took no notice in the small things going on around them and sat in their chairs along with everyone else. Lillian and Yeah-yeah on one side while her family was on the other, to her it felt like an interrogation.

After a long Period of silence and food being placed on plates, Martha gave a warm smile. "So how did you two cutie pies meet?

Lillian almost spit out the bit of water she had in her mouth at the word Cutie Pies. Yeah-yeah on the other hand blushed a deep red. "We met at school mom." Lilly spoke up.

"No, actually we met the day I helped you when you fell" Yeah-yeah said turning to stare at her, squeezing her hand that was still attached to his under the table.

For some reason Lillian forgot all about that. She simply scowled herself and gave him a small smile.

Julian who sat on the other side of the table reminded that day perfectly. Him and His sister were at the baseball field then she left and he found her on the couch with a scratched up leg. Everything was started to make sense to him now. But his same miserable, hating everything expression was painted on his face.

"That's so cute! I love young love" Martha gushed.
"Mom" Lillian said trying to make her mom stop being embarrassing. Which earned a low chuckle from Julian.

"Say son, what do you plan on doing when you grow up." Mr.Phillips asked Yeah-yeah who was slightly taken back by his question. He didn't even know what he wanted to eat tomorrow let alone what he planned on doing in a few years but he wanted to make a good impression so yeah-yeah improvised. "I wanna run my own business, sir" He said taking s bite of his green beans.

Yeah-yeah was happy that Mr.Phillips didn't further his question because if he didn't yeah-yeah would've been caught in his bluff.

"I'm done. May I be excused?" Julian asked, dying to get away from his unwanted company.

"I guess. But don't forget to wash your dish" Lillian's mom said.

Now there were the 4 of them and Yeah-yeah could actually relax a bit without Julian's paralyzing stare, eyeing his every move.

The rest of the dinner actually went by pretty swell in Lillian's eyes, there were small conversations going around, the occasional Mr.Philips trying to be intimidating but that was about it. After saying bye to Lillian's folks, Yeah-yeah found himself guiding his girlfriend outside ready to tell her everything.

They sat down on her backyard grass with their hands intertwined. Lillian could tell something was up with Yeah-yeah, she could always tell when he was in distress. It was like a sixth sense to her

"What's wrong?" She asked with worried eyes.

Yeah-yeah wasn't sure how to tell her. He unlocked their intertwined fingers and stood up leaving a confused Lillian on the grass.

Lilly was starting to think she knew what was going on, she just hoped it wasn't the real reason for him being weird.
"Are you breaking up with me?" She finally got the nerves to ask him.

Astonished Yeah-yeah looked at her and rapidly shook his head no. "Why would you think that?"

Not knowing what to say Lilly let out a sigh of relief she didn't know she was holding in. "Just say it then.."

"I'm not sure how to." He paced around the grassy area, running his hands up and down his hair which was now messy.

Lilly was now on her feet trying to comfort the boy in distress. "Let me help you" she placed her small fingers on his chest, feeling his rapid heartbeat.

"You said it wrong."

"What?" Lillian looked at him confused as to what he was talking about.

"You said it wrong." Yeah-yeah repeated.

After a minute of thinking Lillian finally caught on to what he meant and rephrased her words. "You need to allow me to help you."

They both smiled. Finally ready to tell her he let out a deep sigh and said it.

"I'm going to Military school... I leave next month."

The smile Lillian had on her face was now replaced with pure terror. This couldn't be true. He couldn't be leaving her not yet, not ever. The thought of them two being separated with no direct contact made a stream of tears run down her face. Lillian didn't care either. She was never the tuff girl that always hid her emotions, she was soft, shy and emotional.

"Hey don't cry" Yeah-yeah cooed as he lightly grabbed some of his girlfriends hair and pulled her into his chest.
Still to this very day seeing her cry pained him.

"But you-you're leaving" she stammered out between hiccups.

"We can write each other everyday, okay? Even call each other on the phone once every week. Please don't cry. We can make this work" Even His eyes were starting to water but he wasn't gonna allow himself to cry. Not in front of her and not at all. He was a man and men don't cry.

Lillian pulled away from the tight embrace enough to look him in the face and see his sadden expression that marched hers. She wasn't sure their relationship was gonna last long or be the same as it was before but she wasn't gonna not try. She cared about him too deeply to no try. Lilly knew if the tables were around he would do the same for her.

She wiped her tear stained checks and noticed the black smug of mascara on her hand but not caring enough to take all of it off.
"We can do this." She stirred up her best smile and and went back to giving Yeah-yeah a hug making sure to take in his scent because soon she won't even have that around anymore to remember him.
