As soon as you used your target balls to tap the targets of the Seijin students, your own targets strapped to your body lit up instantly.

This seemed to be the case for both Todoroki and Fumiko, too.

You all were taken by surprise, a sudden feeling of anxiety overtook you. Did you make a mistake? Why did your targets light up? Did you understand the rules wrong? Fortunately for you, you got the answer to your questions soon enough.

At that moment, a loud announcement rang through the arena, "Three more students have passed, bringing up the number of qualifying students to 56." Your eyes widened when you realized that the announcement made was about you three.

Thankfully, working together allowed all three of you to secure the targets you needed and pass the first exam. An instant smile sprang on your lips as you turned to Fumiko with a huge grin.

"Fumi, we did it! We passed!"

The sage greenette returned your smile with a softer one, "Yeah... We did great!" As you raised your hand for a friendly high-five, you soon came to regret that decision. Because almost immediately after you moved your pectoral muscles, the distant ache you had been trying to push down so fervently, resurfaced.

Almost immediately, your shoulder started to ache a bit too much for your liking.

You tried to walk it off by pressing your free hand against the spot, but that did little to ease the pain. The more you tried to tune it out, the more the pain spread, pulsating around the area like a parasite sucking onto your life force.

No matter how hard you tried, the pain just refused to disperse. When, after a while had passed with the ache persisting, you figured you might as well redirect your attention elsewhere.

Namely, towards the oddly zoned-out Todoroki.

You excused yourself from Fumiko's side, and made your way to Todoroki, who seemed to be staring at his left hand with an almost trance-like look on his face. Your eyes softened ever so slightly as you caught sight of such a serious set of expressions on his face.

You felt like you had a slight idea what he was thinking about.

Sensing his growing turmoil, you stretched out your uninjured arm and placed a hand on Todoroki's back in a friendly manner. The dual-haired boy flinched out of his thoughts before turning to you with a confused look. He only grew more confused once he saw the small smile resting on your face.

"Congratulations, Todoroki!" You began. "We did it! We passed the first exam!" You cheered, your lips curling up into a bright grin the more you realized how big of a deal this was. Out of 1000+ applicants taking part in the exam, only 100 were allowed to pass.

And you guys were one of them.

However, Todoroki didn't respond much to your praise. No, it was more like he didn't understand what to say in return to that. For him, it really wasn't that big of a deal. It wasn't as if you guys had gotten your license, this was just one of the two exams needed to pass to get it. And it was only expected that both you and him would have passed. He knew because he was well aware that he was strong, and as were you. Fumiko qualifying for the second exam wasn't that big of a surprise either. He had a feeling she wasn't weak either.
