The train ride was momentarily pleasant. Which was why I knew that everything was about to change.

Theseus sat comfortably, newspaper in his hand, one arm dangling over the arm of the chair. I settled beside him, taking the inviting gesture that he had made, and leaning against his chest.

The sound of his breathing, the knowing that he was alive, calmed me more than he could ever know.

"Do you think it will be dangerous?" he asked curiously.

I took a deep breath, leaning into the crook of his neck and kissing his skin delicately. "We are bringing down a madman. Of course it will be dangerous. Taking into account that Dumbledore is the chief planner... that danger increases tenfold."

He put down the paper, wrapping his arms around me in a tight hug. I did not dare look him in the eye.

"We will find our way through. We always do," he tried to assure.

"Did I interrupt your reading?" I cast them, attempting to change the subject.

With his own deep inhale, Theseus rest his chin on the top of my head. "You never interrupt."

"Anything of note?"

He shook his head. "Just the same. Grindelwald needs to be found. It seems to be all they can talk about."

"He is trying to take over the world. Hence, the title of world domination," I explained, reaching up to take on of his hands. I fiddled with his fingers, lifting a small ring from my own to attempt to place it on his.

"They will not fit, my love," Theseus told me with a short laugh.

"I think that I may be able to squeeze them on."

He kissed my hair. "It would not be like you to never try."

"What do they say at the Ministry?" Yusuf Kama spoke up, placing a hand against Theseus' discarded paper. "Liu or Santos?"

I wasn't entirely sure how I felt about the man. He seemed trustworthy, and like me, he had only one mission in fighting Grindelwald. Avenge his sister – Leta Lestrange.

Having expected to hear him chastise us after the breakdown of Leta and Theseus' engagement and the subsequent... tragedy, it was clear that we were both surprised that he remained civil.

"Officially, the Ministry takes no position," Theseus responded, running a gentle hand up and down my arm. "Unofficially... smart money's on Santos."

"I'd vote for anyone but Vogel," I inputted, meeting Yusuf's gaze. "That man is one step away from insanity."

"Anyone would be better than him," Theseus agreed.

"Anyone?" Yusuf questioned, nodding to the front page of the paper. Gellert Grindelwald smiled at them with bared teeth and madness in his eyes.

"I don't believe he's on the ballot, Kama," the man beside me added, dropping his hand to press gently against my lower back. "He also happens to be a fugitive."

"Is there a difference?"

"Spinning! Always with the spinning." A different voice joined the conversation, accent smoother than those already on the train.

The flames of the fireplace blared green, and a single figure tumbled through. With a confused expression, I rose to meet him.

"Jacob Kowalski," I greeted.
