I held Theseus' hand as we crossed the bridge of Hogsmeade, memories of our time at Hogwarts flittering to the surface.
"Do you remember the time you jumped into the Black Lake to save a book?" Theseus questioned.
With a short laugh, I took a deep breath. "It wasn't mine. I could exactly let it go when it needed to be returned to the library."
"You could have used magic."
"I wasn't used to magic," I returned. "I may have been brought up by Dumbledore, but he never was a huge fan of doing everything with our wands."
"I find that hard to believe," Newt muttered, walking ahead with his case.
"He didn't want me to rely on magic. Apparently it got me into trouble as a kid," I explained, racking my brain for the memory of such trouble.
"I don't suppose you'd like to tell us what this is about, would you?" Theseus asked his younger brother, cutting off my thoughts. It wasn't important to remember the past.
"Not that we aren't very excited to be back in Hogsmeade," I added, noting the small relief on Theseus' face, but paying little mind to it.
"He just asked that we meet," Newt added, "and that I be sure to bring the two of you."
I looked around. "This is the road to The Hog's Head."
"Isn't that Abe's pub?" Theseus tried.
"Yes. Newt..." The young Scamander was already gone, rushing around the corner to knock on the wooden door of The Hog's Head.
Abe opened it. "Here to see my brother, I expect," he muttered.
"Oh tell me he hasn't roped you into this too," I cast, pushing by Newt to wrap my arms around Abe in a tight hug.
The man returned it, giving me one of his rare smiles. "I'm playing host." The two behind me made their way into the pub, shutting the door behind them. "Is there any news on..."
I shook my head. "He's alive, Newt saw him, and he's still with Grindelwald, but I'll get him back. I swear it Abe."
"Don't kill yourself in the process."
"Good to see you, Aberforth," Theseus added, shaking his hand firmly.
"Always so formal," I commented, falling back.
"Respectful," Theseus corrected, sending me a smile. "They are technically my in-laws."
"Is there wedding we were not invited to?" Albus questioned, appearing around the corner. He tried his best smile.
"I have bone to pick with you," I muttered, leaving his question unanswered.
"You always do." It was comforting, kind. He spoke as though there was nothing to argue.
Taking a step closer, I breathed deeply. "Sending Newt on a mission alone?" I posed. "Was that your clever idea?"
"He would raise less suspicion."
"It would also raise the danger that he was in."
"Nat, I'm okay," Newt inputted.
"I wouldn't get involved, if I were you," Theseus told his brother.
