When you're gone
— Avril Lavigne

"And when you're gone,
The face I came to know is missin' too.
And when you're gone,
the words I need to hear,
To always get me through the day,
And make it okay.
I miss you."

"Skylor, Master of Amber, versus Jacob, Master of Sound. Fight!" Chen announces as Camille, Tox, and myself sit in one of the corners in the booths above the arena, silently cheering on our friend.

Meanwhile just to the left of us, Kai ran in late and found himself treading on everyone's toes to get into his seat. No one was particularly pleased with him and I don't blame them. I'm just glad it wasn't me.

Unlike the previous four, the match didn't last long and Skylor won with ease. We all cheered and celebrated her victory with Kai being the loudest which didn't surprise any of us in the slightest. In fact, she would most definitely be teased about it later.

After we walked out of the arena and got back to the palace to get out of the rain, I immediately headed to the arena in there and sighed. The next battle would be between Tox and myself, and I wasn't sure how to feel about it. We weren't as close as I was with others but she was still a friend and I didn't want for her powers to be taken away. In saying that, I didn't want mine to be either. I just wish there was a way we could both be winners.

"Congratulations on last night," Clouse whispered to me as he walked past and down the corridor we weren't allowed down. At his comment, my heart sank and suddenly I felt that breakfast was going to come back up.

"What was that about?" Skylor asked curiously, before I shrugged her off.

"Nothing. It doesn't matter."

But my answer did very little to not receive attention. If anything it brought Camille into the conversation and the Ninja closer than what I was comfortable with them hearing.

"You and Clouse seem awfully close. Is he your sugar daddy or something?" Camille teases, giggling as I noticed Lloyd's Green Ninja Gi out of the corner of my eye.

"Ew, no!" I exclaimed completely appalled by that. "No, we're family. I don't know on which side or how far down the line, but at some point we share the same blood."

"Oh, is that why you were down—" I cut the blue ninja off with a serious stare that could cut the wind itself. That and Kai's hand slapping over his mouth, it was safe to say he kept his mouth shut after then.

"Attention competitors. With the  Tournament of Elements now in full swing, I'd like to congratulate you all on your victories. After the next match between the Elements of Wind and Poison, I have a very special surprise for you! For now, please make your way to the indoor arena. Bye bye!"

Chen's scratchy voice rattled through speakers again as my shoulders slumped and a sigh escaped my lips.

"Let's get this over with." Tox glances at me expectantly to follow her. Before I can, Lloyd grabs my hand in attempt to pull me aside.

"Can I speak to you? Alone." He asks to which I pull my hand back out of his grasp.

"Maybe later when I'm not about to fight my friend." I offered, although my tone was a little sarcastic. I did want to talk to him and his ninja team about a fair bit, but I knew they also wanted answers from me and I didn't have them. And those of which I did, I couldn't share.

Before leaving, I did send an apologetic look the Green Ninja's way before walking back behind Tox as she lead the both of us to our arena.

Fortunately they gave us both a few minutes to prepare before we took our places either side of the indoor balcony. The building we were in was oval shaped and around the smaller edges were balconies that both Tox and I were situated on. On the long straight sides were the grandstands for the audience to be seated and obviously Chen's obnoxious, button filled chair.
