A/N,
I know this chapter may seem confusing and like a major time skip considering I haven't written about when they defeat the Overlord yet, but I promise that this is more important to the story! I do apologise in advance though.

Things We Lost In The Fire
— Bastille

"Do you understand that we will never be the same again?
The futures in our hands and we will never be the same again
These are the things we lost in the fire, fire, fire."

Dim lights slowly began to filter  throughout the room, whilst I regained consciousness after whatever had happened. Blinking my eyes awake and groaning quietly at the intense headache that was pounding in the back of my head like a hammer had just been thrown at it.

Confused and disorientated, my eyes barely managed to process and acknowledge when two man appeared.

One was clad in velvet armour with true purple streaks of fabric entwining with the dark gold emblems and detailing. The other was wearing the same velvet colour in his robe with what looked to be a fake purple anacondrai around his neck. I suppose it made sense for the other guy to have streaks of the colour throughout his armour now.

"Y/n, I'm glad to see that your memories have been restored." The general looking fellow with a low and elegant man bun smiled, but his tone sounded sarcastic. It was eerily familiar but I couldn't pin down why. Actually, I didn't recognise where I was even. Last I remembered was that I was on the Dark Island...

"Where is Lloyd?" My eyes widened in worry and almost fear for the Green Ninja.

At my outburst, the hippie anacondrai lover merely stifled a mocking chuckle whilst the other at least had the decency to inspect the chains around my wrists. Wait, what..?

Before I could understand what was happening around me, man bun general guy made a large book appear within his grasp that looked more like an ancient tome if anything. Then in a foreign language, he muttered verses I couldn't understand until the already dim lights flickered out and my sight was no more. Something had hit power off and my mind accepted.

"Remember, you're here to help your Uncle in his endeavours— not to make friends."

My mother's voice was familiar and her instructions clear. Yet all I knew, well, I knew very little as far as I was aware. I couldn't remember anything, my memories were foggy of anything in my past. So the fact that anyone was helping me along and somewhat giving me a guide, I hadn't a choice but to follow through. Although I suppose it was merely a parental responsibility— despite my age.

Clouse, who was supposedly my uncle, had the decency to come find me after the steam boat had drifted to the dock and let me know that there were other guests arriving.

Now aware of the fact that I will have to be wary of these newcomers, I kept my mouth shut as he lead me and apparently the others to the main building behind the walls that hid and protected the buildings inside. Some would call it a palace but I'd call it a stingy hostel that people like Chen took pleasure in stirring up other's lives. Yet I kept my mouth shut and opinions quiet, as was required.

Once we were all seated, some of the group took notice of one another, not yet making introductions as this island was still new to them all. To be fair, I felt like I was in their shoes as well but I knew that somewhere in amongst the hazy memories was something I could rely on to confirm I did know of this area at some point. Waking up on the island so that Clouse and my mother could help me with my memory loss wasn't included amongst the hazy memories as I actually remembered that.
