Lost On You
— LP
"When you get older, plainer, saner
Will you remember all the danger we came from?
Burning like embers, falling, tender
Longing for the days of no surrender years ago
And will you know."

Skip, hop, and a jump. Nothing to worry about. It's just a skip, hop, and a jump.
More like a crash, bang, and wallop.
Falling from the balancing beam I was once on, I fell onto my back like a possum playing dead. Only my limbs weren't half sticking out in the air, they were cradling the rest of my body.
"Try again." Sensei pursed his lips, content with his tea but evidently frustrated with my slow start. To be fair, I didn't think the other ninja were any better when they first started out but that's just me I suppose.
Regardless, I got my bruised body off of the mats and walked myself over to the beginning. Here we go again...
Crash.
Bang.
Wallop.
This time, I sat up right against the wooden beam and threw my head against it in a fit of frustration and disappointment with myself. 'This'll be fun,' she said. 'It'll help you hone your powers.' Well I don't see any powers in the making here mother darling.
"Your balance isn't what's preventing you from getting through this course." Sensei offers insight to my problematic issue, pulling me from my pondering. "It's your focus. You need to rely on what's around you to enhance what you see in yourself."
Because that makes sense, I internally roll my eyes. Externally, I breathe calmly, reminding myself of the meditative exercises and depressurising the feeling of hopelessness.
"Again."
Jeez, I was really starting to miss the days of school, music, eat, sleep, repeat. Oh how I yearned to be in bed over burning muscles.

Entry #29
Dear Diary,
No— that was wrong. I needed to start from the beginning. But I already knew how my story started. My parents fell in love, got married, and had me. Their beautiful little girl and only child. Well, besides Barry that is. Damn dog won't die. Actually, who the hell names their dog Barry is the better question.
But never mind that. This entry is written for my later self. So, how are you Y/N? Are we still an aspiring zoo keeper? Is black still your favourite colour? Most importantly, are we dating Kai yet? What's the point in asking.. of course you are!
Well, besides all my irritating questions, I should probably let you in on what happened today, huh? Well, Kai's sister seems pretty cool, and her relationship with Jay is cute to say the least. But Wu also found an emo kid. He's very quiet, and weird, but maybe I'm being judgemental? Anyways, I get to go home and see mum again in a week. As much as I love Sensei Wu and his group of ninja, I wish that someone would tell me why I am even here. I'm not like them after all. Sure we all shared elemental powers, but god, wasn't I too young to be here? And all I ever did was sit around and watch what the others got to do yet never truly be apart of it.
So, with all that out of the way, I can't wait to see mum at work again with all the elderly patients. They were always so nice... except Gregory. He was like our dog — he wouldn't die.
