King Curren's eyes grew wide in shock. I don't understand why would you want that!

I-I.. Um I have a human friend. Actually more then a friend... She's my partner and I love her, your majesty.

King Curren let out a deep sigh. Wow how I admire my King, he is such a caring creature. Even I believed he would at least get angry or surprised I have taken a human partner.

Rowan, I don't even know where to start. He said softly. How in the world did you even meet a human?! You shouldn't have even been to the surface in the first place! He let out another sigh his hands now covering his face in frustration.

He continued. It is a pity love is dragged into this, that makes things a little more complicated. I am sorry Row-

No your majesty...please I cannot live with out her. I interrupted.

Why exactly do you request this wish?

I want her to be apart of my world... I want her in my life forever... I can't see it any other way.

Rowan my boy, do you know why human interaction is forbidden?

There not all dangerous! Those fishtales are wrong, not all humans are harmful.

I am aware of that... The King's eyes suddenly grew sorrowful.

When I was young, I too fell in love with a human maiden. Her name was Serene. He fell into this gaze looking past me.

She was beautiful, with the most loving heart. As a Prince I had access to power, so I used it to transform myself into a human and that's how I met her. I spent all day with her and returned to sea at night. When I revealed my true self to her, she was quite surprised. He let out a chuckle at the thought. But it didn't matter to her she still loved me.... A couple months after we were engaged, she was killed by some heartless thieves.

He turned his head towards me snapping out of his gaze.

When I became King I was the one who issued this ban. I wanted to protect my dear subjects from the cruel world of the surface. Humans can be brutal, they are creatures capable of so much evil, and I decided that Water Breathers were better off with no association with them at all.
Rowan I understand where your coming from... But if I grant you this wish, what changes? You two are from completely different worlds that cannot merge into one. It will be difficult for you to be together, even if I grant you this wish.

My heart sank, I didn't know what to do...

Grant it, I beg of you. I will figure it out.

King Curren thought it over for quite some time.

Bring her to me tomorrow and I will decide then.

Well... Um.. About that. I nervously rubbed the back of my neck. I-Uh.. kind of already brought her here. She's currently in my bedroom.

He let out a low chuckle. Of course you did. Please bring her here. I'll be waiting.

Thank you your majesty. I bowed in gratitude, swimming away happy to tell Milah the news. Sea urchins! What if she doesn't want to join me. I mean it's not permanent, she'll be able to transform back into human again. Still is that to much to ask of her? Does she even love me?

I arrived at my room's entrance, and as I entered I saw Milah sleeping very soundly on my bed. She looked so peaceful but I had to wake her. Shaking her shoulders gently I tried waking her.

Milah? Milah, wake up please. I need to ask you something very important.
