The next day arrived, and you and Midoriya, having been fully discharged, were currently making your way down to the hospital's lobby when a nearby TV playing a news report about the raid caught your attention.

"Kai Chisaki, the young head of a formerly prominent yakuza group, was arrested for the abduction and confinement of a young girl. As police transported him, however, they were attacked by the League of Villains." The news reporter explained, causing you and Midoriya's eyes to widen in shock. "During the incident, the Sand Hero, Snatch, who was serving as an escort, was killed. There was also members of law enforcement who were injured. This attack on a villain in custody is an unprecedented failure."

"This is the only thing they've reported on since yesterday." Recovery Girl said as she and Aizawa approached you and Midoriya.

"It isn't something either of you should feel responsible for. Please try not to blame yourselves." Aizawa added.

"Yeah, okay..." Midoriya replied while you just gave a small nod.

"Good news is, most everyone's headed back to class." Aizawa continued. "The doctors wanna monitor Togata a little while longer. But Recovery Girl was able to completely heal the rest of the students involved in the raid. They're gathering their things now."

"I'll stick around a little longer and heal a few more patients since I'm here." Recovery Girl said.

"I'll stay, too. I wanna be here for Eri whenever she wakes up." Midoriya spoke up.

"Same." You added.

"I'm afraid she's still too dangerous for that." Aizawa explained. "Right now, we need to trust that the doctors will help her."

"I get that, but I was hoping we could..." Midoriya trailed off.

"She'll be fine." Aizawa assured.

"Okay, then. I wanna see Togata before I leave, though." Midoriya said as he dropped his bag onto the ground before running off. "I'll be right back. Please watch my stuff!"

"Yeah, mine too!" You added doing the same thing quickly following behind him.

"Hold on. We're leaving soon." Aizawa called out in an attempt to stop the both of you, but it was in vain.

...

Soon enough you and Midoriya stood outside the door to Mirio's hospital room.

"Hey Mirio, you in there? It's [Y/N] and Midoriya." You called out as you knocked on the door before opening it, finding your upperclassman lying on his hospital bed, spinning his legs up in the air with cheerful energy.

"Heya, you two! You both must be heading to campus, huh?" Mirio asked as he flashed a bright smile at you and Midoriya. "I hear I'm the only one who's gotta stay in the hospital. I don't get it. Like, come on, look how much energy I have! It's kinda lame, am I right?"

"Are you okay?" Midoriya asked as you and he approached Mirio's bed, concern evident in his voice.

"Yeah, I know, I know. I lost my Permeation... And my mentor just passed away. I should be full of mopes, right, not smiling so much. But that's the thing..." Mirio paused, sitting up. "Sir loved to laugh. I know he was super strict with the two of you, but I got to see a different side of him. That always tried to find the humor in things. So you see. I refuse to sit around crying. Because I gotta focus on becoming a fine hero one day. Know what I mean? Plus, if I've got a gloomy face on, it might make little Eri feel sad."

Looking at Mirio's smiling face, you can't help but feel a familiar burning feeling of anger and guilt clawing at your chest. "If only we were faster..." You muttered.
