Early the next morning, so much so that the sun hadn't begun to peek over the horizon yet, Midoriya was startled awake by the sound of a vehicle approaching the cave. "A villain?!" he exclaimed in alarm as he scrambled towards the cave entrance, the case hugged against his chest, only to stop when he noticed that it was no villain; instead, he saw you and Rody exiting a somewhat rusty and worn truck. "[Y/N]? Rody?"

"Oh, sorry, did we wake ya?" Rody asked.

"Where'd you guys get a truck?" Midoriya questioned.

"We kinda borrowed it." Rody explained with a smirk as he looked back at the truck. "Just figured we were done walking."

"Kinda borrowed...?" Midoriya repeated as he looked over at you.

"Don't worry," You assured him with a smile. "I made sure we left an IOU in the name of the World Hero Association. Informing the owner that they'll be compensated for their troubles in the near future."

"See, it'll be fine." Rody said, waving off any worries. "Though I wish they'd had a Cessna, we could've flown straight into Klayd that way, no problem."

"Like an Airplane? You can really fly something like that?" Midoriya asked.

"Only in my dreams, friend." Rody responded as he hopped into the driver's seat. "Now, get in."

With that, you and Midoriya did so as you all rode off together as the sun started to barely peek over the horizon. An hour or so into the journey, Midoriya had fallen back asleep, resting his head on your shoulder.

"Question. Once we figure out the case's secret, I can go home, right?" Rody questioned, glancing over at you and Midoriya.

"I don't see why not." You answered. "You get a younger brother waiting for you, right?"

"Yeah, along with my younger sister." Rody replied.

"Hm, and your parents?" You asked.

"My mom died right after she had my sister, so it was up to my dad to take care of the kids." Rody explained as you couldn't help but give him a sympathetic look. "He did a pretty good job there for a while, raising us while juggling work, then he suddenly up and disappeared one day..."

"Disappeared?" You questioned.

"Do you know about that group called Humarise?" Rody asked.

"I do. They're a terrorist organization." You answered.

"Yeah. After people in town found out that Dad left to become a member, things got bad for my family. Our friends started ignoring us, we were kicked out of our school and out of our house, and I couldn't find anyone who would hire me for honest work." Rody explained, as you couldn't help but feel a pang of familiarity with his story.

"I... I'm sorry you had to go through that." You said softly, empathizing with Rody's situation. "I guess we're pretty similar; we both know what it's like to have the sins of a parent forced on you."

"Yeah..." Rody responded, remembering your words from the night before about your own parentage. "You know I obviously resented my dad at first. But not so much anymore..." He admitted, as you couldn't but look at him with slight surprise. "I don't have time to think twice about him. Now, my little brother and sister are the most important things to me." He continued as he pulled out and opened his locket that contained the photo of the three of them before handing it to you. "I just want to create a decent future for those kiddos."
