Chapter 2
Harry didn't stop until he reached the park. His anger was slowly slipping away and he was just noticing how cold the summer night air was. He shivered, cursing himself for not grabbing his jacket. Harry was getting tired of lugging his trunk around, so he found a park bench and sat down on it. He knew that if he didn't return to the house soon then the Ministry was bound to be out looking for him, but Harry didn't want to go back yet. Harry heard a twig snap and looked up. He spotted a figure of a dog walking over to him. Harry didn't feel like he was in danger, so he let the dog approach him. The dog stopped in front of him and for awhile the two just stared at each other. Then suddenly the dog jumped up and licked Harry on the face, causing Harry to laugh. The dog somehow looked satisfied with that. Harry smiled. Harry couldn't help but feel like he knew this dog. But how? He didn't remember any dogs other than Aunt Marge's, let alone a dog that didn't growl at him every time he stepped into a room. Had this dog belonged to his Mother and Father? Harry mentally shook his head. No, don't get your hopes up Harry... He scolded himself. There was no way of knowing that and this dog could be just some stray who didn't know any better. The dog whining brought Harry out of his thoughts. It kept looking at the small group of trees that were in the park. "You want me to follow you?" The dog barked at this. "Well, I've got nothing better to do..." Harry said shrugging. Harry got up and pulled his trunk along as he followed the dog into the trees. As soon as they were covered by the trees, the dog stopped and Harry did too, a bit confused.
The next thing he knew, the dog had turned around and changed into a man and that man happened to be Sirius Black. "So you're an Animagus..." Harry said thoughtfully.
"Okay, I'm lost. How are you not freaking out?" Sirius said looking at him in disbelief.
"Well... When I first saw you on the news, I got curious and then I found a picture of you with my Mum and Dad at their wedding and came to the conclusion that you wouldn't in some way betray them..." Harry said shrugging. "But the news didn't say what they wanted you for..." Sirius sighed.
"It's going to be a long story, so it would be best if we sat down." Harry nodded and sat his trunk down, before sitting next to it on the ground. Sirius sat down in front of him a foot away. "Okay, I don't know if you know this or not, but I'm your Godfather."
"You are?" Harry asked hopefully.
"Yes, James asked me if I would be your Godfather when you were born and that was the happiest I've ever felt." He said smiling warmly. "But then, Voldemort started going after your parents and so they had to go into hiding... That's where this all begins, but I suppose you already knew about Voldemort coming after your mum and dad, though huh?" Harry nodded.
"I just want to know what really happened that night..."
"Dumbledore didn't tell you much, did he?" Harry frowned.
"He never tells me much at all and it's annoying." Harry said glowering at the ground. Sirius chuckled.
"That's Dumbledore for you. So I guess I'll start with the night your mum and dad died then." Sirius looked so sad as he said that. Harry knew at once that this man had nothing but loyalty for his parents. "Well, let's see, your dad, I, and two others became friends when we went to Hogwarts. One of them I here is going to be your teacher this year and believe me, he'll be a good one." He added that as Harry scowled.
"Good, the first one I had, had Voldemort on the back of his head and the second one was just plain self-centered and a fraud."
"You've got to tell me about your first year after this." Sirius said looking alarmed. Harry smiled.
