Chapter 11

It was the end of Care of Magical Creatures and Harry was just about to make his way back to the castle with the others when Hagrid asked to speak to him. "Sure Hagrid. I'll catch up with you guys in a bit." He said to Draco and the others. They nodded and started walking away. "What's up, Hagrid?"

"I don't know if you heard, but Lucius Malfoy is trying to get rid of Buckbeak." Hagrid said looking really depressed. Harry was shocked. He thought for sure that Draco would try to get his father to stop going after Buckbeak after they became friends. I guess there was only so much that Draco could do. "They sent a letter and gave me a court date."

"Oh Hagrid, I'm sorry. I'll help in any way that I can." Hagrid smiled.

"I know Harry. I do have one question though."

"What?"

"How did you and Malfoy become friends so quickly?"

"Well, I wanted to start over as friends. Things could've been different if-"

"I see. Well, I'll talk to you later Harry." Harry was disconcerted as he walked up to the castle. Why would Hagrid act that way to Harry being friends with Draco? Is he hurt that Harry became friends with the son of the man who is trying to get rid of Buckbeak? Harry grimaced. That might be it but Harry wasn't going to stop being friends with Draco just because Hagrid didn't like it.

"What's wrong Harry?" Pansy asked as he caught up to them. Harry shook his head.

"It's nothing. Hagrid's just worried about Draco's father getting rid of Buckbeak." Draco frowned.

"I've tried to tell father that it was my fault but he won't listen."

"He's just mad because he's not on the Board of Governors anymore." Blaise said rolling his eyes. Blaise and Theodore insisted that he call them by their first names now that they're friends. Harry couldn't help but feel that there was more to it than that but he didn't voice this opinion out loud. He could clearly see the distress on Draco's face.

"Draco's told us about your plan." Pansy stated, changing the subject. Harry was glad because Draco looked relieved to get off the subject of his father.

"Yeah, we'll try it, but you're crazy, you know that?" Theodore said snickering. Harry chuckled.

"Yes, Draco told me you thought that."

"You've talked to Lupin, right?" Blaise asked curiously.

"Yes and he said he would do it, but it's getting Snape to do it that's going to be the hard part. He doesn't particularly like Lupin, does he?"

"We think he'll do it if enough students come to him and say they want to do it." Pansy said thoughtfully.

"That's true; he would definitely say no if you went to him without some back up. All he ever really does is worry about us." Theodore said nodding.

"We're just going to have to talk to a few more people, aren't we?" Draco said looking amused.

"Thanks guys." Harry said smiling at them. They didn't have to do it but they were willing to try.

"Anytime, Harry." Pansy said smiling back at him. Harry was shocked to see that she could be so nice. Maybe it's because before he believed everything everyone had ever said about Slytherins being bad and stuff. Harry was really kicking himself for being so stupid.

"Oh yeah, we have to go do something. We'll catch up with you later Harry." Blaise said looking at the group urgently. Draco, Theodore, and Pansy nodded.
