Chapter 18
Harry woke up to Oliver shaking him awake. Harry groaned as Oliver moved on to the twins. That was the first time in a long time that Harry had a dreamless sleep and Oliver just had to ruin it! Harry pushed himself to get up and had to restrain himself from sending a pillow to Oliver's face. When Harry turned to get his glasses, he heard an 'oof!' and, "Why I never!" Harry pulled his glasses on and turned to see that Fred and George had both thrown their pillows at Oliver's face. Harry couldn't help but crack up at that. "Come now! It's time for practice you three! I expect to see you downstairs in five minutes!" Then Oliver stomped out of the room and shutting the door a bit hard, causing Fred and George to join in laughing with Harry. The three finally got their laughter under control and got ready for practice. Harry was excited about later on and was happy that practice went as well as it did. Everyone managed to stay awake for Oliver's "new strategy" and executed the moves perfectly. Harry managed to catch the snitch under three minutes, quicker than the five minute game in second year against Hufflepuff. If it weren't for Harry threatening to hex him, Oliver would've kissed him he was so happy. Fred and George laughed at Harry for the remaining time of practice. Harry didn't mind but it irked him a bit. Of course Harry knew they were just trying to keep things light considering what happened yesterday. The two were also excited about Snape and Remus agreeing to do the defense group.
Harry couldn't contain his excitement. He wanted to go with Remus to work on the Chambers right now, but Harry knew Remus had to have time to plan things for his next class and what not. Maybe he was looking up spells to help them clear out the chambers? Harry hoped so because he didn't know many. That's what made Harry feel foolish for even considering the Chamber of Secrets in the first place and Harry knew that if Snape wasn't as nice to Harry as he was now, he'd be sneering at Harry and criticizing him and would've flat out said no and not listen to any reason at all. Harry guessed opening up to Snape about Ron in second year was a good thing but Harry wasn't sure that that was what made Snape suddenly be nice to Harry. Maybe Snape had finally gotten past the image of James Potter's son and finally saw that he was Lily Potter's son too? Harry had a feeling that his mom meant something to Snape but Harry wasn't about to question Snape about it after Snape had agreed to put up with his crazy and most likely dangerous idea. The way Harry looked at it, he didn't have to be the one to go after Voldemort but who else was brave enough to do it? Dumbledore? Harry scoffed at that. Yeah right. Harry doubted Dumbledore would spend all the effort he did to prepare Harry to go against Voldemort if he was brave enough to take him down himself. Harry wasn't afraid of Voldemort as he was supposed to be, but that didn't mean Harry wanted to be the one to take him down.
No, Harry just wanted a normal life like every other kid on the earth but fate is completely against him. Harry wished he had better luck but he knew that would never happen if what he heard about his father's luck is anything to go by. Harry just hoped that he wouldn't get hurt in the end after giving his trust to Snape, Remus, and Sirius. Harry knew that Sirius loved him but he also knew that after thirteen years in Azkaban, his social skills weren't the best and he might not catch onto things as quickly as Harry would like and Remus too hasn't been near Harry for thirteen years. Harry understood that he had met Remus before when he was a baby but he doesn't remember anything about anyone he met when he was a baby. And Snape, well that was obvious.
Before Harry knew it though, practice was over and it was time for breakfast. Harry ate with the twins and listened as they planned their next prank with Lee. Every once in awhile he'd throw in an idea and they'd incorporate it into their plans. Harry didn't say much because he was enjoying the normalcy of it all. Even with Ron and Hermione, nothing was normal. Harry didn't feel relaxed at all with them, not really. Their fighting really didn't help either. That and they kept on bringing up what happened in the past, reminding Harry things he didn't want to remember; like Quirrell's face melting under his fingers or when he and Ron barely managed to escape the arachnomantulas. Harry couldn't see why that all looked cool to everyone else because to Harry it was just another nightmare to add to the ones he already has. Harry's head was messed up enough without everyone making him remember all the bad things that have happened to him since he started going to Hogwarts. Harry mentally shook himself. Ron was expelled, Hermione is sulking, and the Basilisk and Quirrell are dead. He doesn't need to think about them anymore. There shouldn't be any more problems.
