Jay's POV
Today is our first day in the cabin, after we arrived yesterday. We were only here for the weekend and had to travel back tomorrow night so this morning Erin and I were going to scatter my mothers ashes in the place she loved best. The lake. It was 6:30am when the alarm went off this morning, so I quickly turned it off and got ready to go out a run. I left Erin sleeping and decided I could wake her when I got back. I gave her a quick peck on the cheek and then tiptoed out of the room. I decided that before I finally said goodbye to my mother with Erin this afternoon I wanted time just to visit our spot, by myself. I ran the whole way there only coming to a sudden stop when I saw the bench in front of the lake where my mother and I used to relax together had a note, leaning against my mothers ashes, on it. I walked towards it and picked it up. It read "Jay". I recognised the hand writing immediately it was Erin's, I opened the envelope and read the letter inside,
"Jay,
I know this is you and your mum's spot, your sacred place where you can relax and be open with each other. A place where many of you memories were created, and hopefully a place where you can create more. I know it will be around 7am when you read this, as you will have wanted time to visit this spot before we scatter your mum's ashes together this afternoon. So I don't want to invade in you alone time, but I just wanted to let you know that I am here for you whenever you feel you need me, there is no getting rid of me! I live you and so far I love Wisconsin!
Love Erin x
P.s. I will be by the tree if you want me."
I smilies to myself and closed the letter over whilst turning to my right, to see the magnificent oak tree standing next to my gorgeous, amazing, caring girlfriend. Who was standing in her pj's with a small smirk on her face. I chuckled to myself and walked towards her. Before I was able to reach her, she was in my arms, and I almost hugged the life out of her, "I love you so much, Erin Lindsay!" I spoke into her neck, " I love you too, Jay Halstead!".

Erin's POV
i had jumped in the car as soon as I heard Jay leave this morning and I was here in plenty of time to position the letter next to his mothers ashes. I hid behind the massive oak tree and watched Jay open the letter, the smiles that graced his lips, brought tears to my eyes. I love that man with all my heart and seeing him smile at such a difficult time made it melt into tiny little puddles. I was still engulfed by Jay's hug when I heard him mumble something against my neck, "How did you know about this place?". I pulled away from Jay just enough so that I could see his face, "Rachel told me about it, she told me that you and your mum used to spend a lot of time here especially when you were younger." I replied, "huh" was all he said before continuing, "So you did all this for me?" He asked, "Yep, and for your mum, it's the place she'd want to be." I said with a soothing tone. Jay nodded and released me from his hug and took my hand. We walked over to the bench and Jay looked at me, "I would like to do it the now if that's okay with you?" He asked, "Of course it is." I said whilst squeezing his hand.

Jay's POV
I knew right now was the time. The woman I love and want to spend the rest of my life with is standing next to me, supporting my every decision. I was content, they way my mother would have wanted, but there was one other thing my mother wanted, and that was to see me get married. However now that was never going to happen, but she could see the proposal and I knew that would make her happy. I have had this planned for weeks, proposing to Erin is mostly what has been getting me through the days, however I had never found the perfect time, something had always came up or not gone to plan so I just started carrying the ring around in my pocket, anticipating the right moment. And it was now. In front of my mother, with the girl of my dreams, in a stunning location. It couldn't get any better. I casually pulled the ring box from my pocket and got done on one knee whilst holding Erin's left hand in mine. "Jay what are you...." "Shhh" I stopped her before she ruined my train of thought for my perfect speech. "Erin Lindsay, where to begin. The first day I met you I thought you were a pain in the ass. You wouldn't let me drive and you made fun me all the time. But from that day I knew that your mocking and your stupid 'no driving for Jay' rule were just some of the many incredible things I loved about you. Your my partner and naturally we got each other backs, but you have had my back for the last year and a half. You stuck by me through the hard times and you were there for all good, and I want to do the same for you. I want to have you back during the hard times in your life but I also want to be there for the good, I want to be one of the reasons that there is so much good in your life. So Erin Lindsay will you marry me?" There was a silence as I opened the ring box to show the simple silver band with a small yet elegant diamond in the middle. As I looked up I saw the silent tears streaming down her face and it brought a smile to my own. She was happy. "YES JAY! Of course I'll marry you!" I placed the ring in her finger and we shared our 'I loves you's' "I have been wanting to propose for a while, and now felt right with my mum here and beside this stunning lake, with the girl of my dreams I couldn't be happier." "Jay I live you, and all I ever want is for you to be happy, so if letting go of your mum is too much ten we don't have to." Erin offered but I shook my head. "No, I need to do this, for my mum." And with that said I opened the urn and spread my mums ashes into the lake she loved dearly, before turning and hugging my fiancée.
