Erin's POV
My first full week back at work was kind of difficult, which was unusual for me, but I think it was due to the fact that I couldn't keep my bored ass in the house any longer so I came back to work early. Being back for a few weeks has made me feel like I had never left, and it's great!Jay's POV
Having Erin back at work again was the best thing ever. It's was nice to see her smiling face back again. I'm just so glad she was back in time for this team building course that Hank insists on send us on every year. This year he had decided upon, paint balling, he told us that it is supposed to help us with our aim and quick thinking, but I think he just wants to watch us be hurt from flying paint.Erin's POV
The whole unit was together for this "team building" event, however Hank and Al aren't joining in, apparently they are skilled enough, nothing to do with them not wanting to be in pain! We were split into teams, the instructor had split up our usual partners. In my team there was, me, Antonio and Atwater. On the the other team was Jay, Ruzek and Roman. I was actually quite looking forward to it, the idea of being able to fire paint at Ruzek for continually stealing me chair, was extremely appealing! We were all in our overalls, standing outside getting our briefing. It was basic things, like what to do when you get hit and how to use and adjust the paintball gun. I was standing next to Burgess and we were helping each other adjust our guns, when I heard the guys all standing behind me clearly paying no attention. Our instructors told us that we should test out guns before we go, with the safety on, which means no paintballs would come flying out, however the dumasses behind didn't here the part about the safety and fired their shots, one red paintball hit my ass while Jay simultaneously giggled behind me, " Shit!!" I yelled whilst turning round and glaring at him. He smirked in return, " oh it's on!" I said smugly whilst turning round to the front.Jay's POV
Our instructor finished the briefing and sent us out to the woods to listen for the horn which allows us to start playing. Before we knew it we had been running around for an hour, some of us covered in a lot more paint than others, but their was only one person I was looking for and I hadn't seen her yet, Erin was good but I knew where she would be hiding. I headed down the woods to the river at the bottom. It was surrounded by big rocks and trees, I knew she would be hiding here somewhere I just had to find her, "Lindsay? I know you are here, show yourself and I won't hurt you." I carefully walked over the fallen branches and twigs, then all of a sudden I was shot with a paintball, and I heard a chuckle and foot steps running away. I turned round and caught a glimpse of the most precious thing in my life, swiftly turning to hide behind a massive tree. So I walked slowly cautiously watching every step I took. I approached her from behind, she had absolutely no idea I was there. I noticed she only had one band left on her arm signifying that she only had one life left, I was in no hurry to take that life, however it was going to be mine, all in good time. I took off my helmet and place it in the rock beside me with my gun, and I quickly put my hand over Erin's mouth and one round her waist and pulled her close. I felt her inhale a sharp breath, she relaxed just as quick when she realised who I was. " I see you only have one life left Miss Lindsay?" I said whilst turning her round, "what's it to do with you Mr Halstead?" She questioned mirroring my cocky tone with a massive smirk on her face. "It's everything to do with me, this" I said whilst touching the band round her arm, "this is mine." I stated. Next thing I knew Erin was pulling me close, our lips were almost touching "you're gonna have to come and get it then!" Erin whispered before quickly running off and laughing. I chuckled and followed with my paintball gun in tow. Caught a glimpse of Erin run behind a rock so I followed, making sure I watched my back as I did so. There she was wheezed in behind a rock "ahaha I've got you now Lindsay" I chuckled. "Jay please I'm no good at this we both have one life left why can't we just take our bands off and leave?" Erin begged me, I knew she was up to something but I could never say no to her. " okay fine, come here" I reached my hand out to help her up and as I did so she pulled out her gun and shot me in the stomach, and then started laughing. Just as she was about to run out I grabbed her arm and pulled her back, "Now that wasn't very nice Lindsay, was it?" I whispered in her ear. My hand wandered up her to her neck, my thumb drawing circles on her cheek. "I'm sorry" she said, with the smile I swear she only has for me. She pulled the collar of my overalls, and bought my lips to hers. We seemed to be lost in that moment forever, unable to let each other go, nor did we want to.Erin's POV
The air horn that signified the end of the game, broke Jay and I apart, both unable to hold back the grins from our faces. "Come on you" Jay said whilst looping his fingers through mine and picking up our guns. As we started to approach the midst of the woods, I heard the fire of a gun. Seconds later, a wet slimy paintball, hit me on the ass, and Jay slung his arm round my shoulders, "that was payback" he whispered. I slapped his chest and chuckled, he is everything I could ever want and more.
