AN - Hey guys sorry is took so long for an update had a lot going on, i hope you enjoy this chapter, let me know what you think! - Hannah
Jay's POV
Being dragged round the shops on a is not what i had in mind for my Saturday afternoon, would much rather be watch a game on the tv, however i promised Erin i would help her get food in for the party tomorrow. we have been decorating the house for just over a month now, not that Voight gave us a dirty house, it just wasn't to our taste so until it was finished Erin was determined that she wasn't letting anyone inside with the exception of myself and Voight. now that its finished we decided to invite everyone from the district round for a house warming tonight (which no doubt will roll into the early hours of tomorrow morning). I found myself just following Erin up and down the aisles to the point where i didn't notice that she had stopped and i walked into her. "ouch!' Erin let out as my entire body walked directly into her back. i stubbled back, "sorry are you okay? i must have been day dreaming" Erin chuckled at me and i could feel a small smile tug at the corner of my mouth. "You have been following me round the entire shop like a zombie jay" she laughed, i sheepishly ran my hand through my hair, "oh you noticed?" by this point Erin was shaking her head and laughing at me, "Go make yourself useful and get some drinks for tonight." I chuckled and followed my instructions, anything to distract me from this boredom.
Erin's POV
I don't think i have ever seen someone smile as much as Jay did when we left the shops this afternoon, don't get me wrong i love him to bits but when it comes to shopping he is no help at all. This past month with the house and work have been stressful for me, but even worse for Jay, its been his first free weekend in four weeks and i dragged him round the shops in prep for tonight, "Thank you for coming with me today, even if all you achieved was walking into me." i laughed as Jay brought the last bag into the kitchen. He faked like he was hurt, "I'll have you know Mrs Halstead" he edged closer to me, "choosing drinks for tonight was the most difficult part of the trip." he said as he pulled me into a hug. We both shared a chuckle and a kiss. As i stood there in his arms, the most content i have been in a while, my hand cupping his jaw, "I mean it Jay. You haven't had a free weekend in a month and you came shopping with me today, thank you." I hugged him tightly. "Where else would i have been", he whispered in my ear and he rubbed my back.
Jay's POV
Due to the fact Erin and i have been decorating the house for the past month we haven't really spent anytime with everyone from work, out with work, we also missed the annual Molly's halloween party, so for tonight we have told everyone to dress up. Tonight was the night i finally found out what i was wearing and to be honest i couldn't have been more nervous. The reason? Erin had picked my costume and i had picked hers, but neither of use was allowed to tell the other until tonight. We both new that each other was going to pick something either stupid or something they hated, it was part of the deal, at the time it sounded like a good idea but oh how i regret it now. "Jay!!" Erin called from the kitchen, "yeah?" i said as i walked in. "Everyone should be here soon, wanna get ready now?" part of me sank as she said 'get ready' and the other part of me was dying to see her in the costume i got her. "okay, where is mine? I've left yours in the box in the bathroom for you." "Ahhh yours is on the bed!" she squealed as she ran in the direction of the bathroom. i slowly walked into the bedroom, absolutely dreading what i was about to find. Erin and i must have opened the boxes at the same time, as we both burst out laughing at the same time. We had bought each other the same thing. the week leading up to halloween we were having a discussion in work about what the guys were wearing to the halloween party at Molly's and what were some of the worst costumes we had ever scene. at the same time Erin and i spoke about people who just make ghosts out of bedsheets. So when we said we were gonna have a party i decided i was gonna get her a sheet and cut holes in it for eyes, and it turns out she has done exactly the same. Although Erin has clearly spent more time on hers than i did. None the less we both put or costumes on and had a god laugh about it.
Erin's POV
Jay and i looked like absolute idiots, but i didn't care. it meant a lot to me that he had listened when we were talking with the guys in work and that he had put time and effort into making it too. All be it looked like the holes were cut by a five year old he made an effort none the less. Once everyone arrived Jay and i took the sheets off, if weren't falling over them very five seconds then Adam was making rubbish jokes about them. Its been a wile since we have had a night like this, Hank an Trudy so drunk they are singing Beyonce on karaoke, Kim whipping Kevin's ass at beer pong, Adam telling crappy jokes and being the only one who laughs at them and then Jay watching me from across the room as he stands next to mouse who thinks he is watching him trying to balance his cup on his nose. Out of everyones predictable moments Jay's stood out to me, he did this long before we dated, but when i used to catch him he used to turn away and talk to mouse. He doesn't anymore, he smiles and walks over and drapes his arm over my shoulders and kisses my head, "I love you." he states. My eye find his and it suddenly feels like we are the only two people in the room. "I love you too." i say as i bury my head comfortably in his chest.
