Erin's POV
It's been a long, hard couple of weeks in the office. Case after case after case, it just never seems to end. Plus Jay has been like a hyperactive puppy, ever since I agreed to go to his families cabin in Wisconsin. Don't get me wrong I love the man but sometimes it like he has no off switch. However it has been nice seeing him so happy about is going away together. I am actually looking forward to spending time with Jay, it will be a well deserved break after these last couple of hectic weeks. I was pulled out of my happy thoughts when hank came pounding up the stairs, "Be ready in 5!" He yelled as he marched into his office. Here we go again.

Jay's POV
Today was our last shift before our vacation to the cabin and it couldn't come soon enough. Spending time with Erin is amazing, but it's even better to spend our time together in the cabin. As I stood up from behind my desk where I had just finished today paperwork, I headed int o the break room to tell Erin I was going and that I would meet her at her place, she nodes and give me one of her smiles, that I swear she only kept for me, in return and I left, cause after all we are "just friends". When I arrived at Erin's I noticed she had already packed her bags, so put the TV on and ordered take out. A few moments later I heard Erin coming through the door, and before I knew it she had plopped herself down beside me on the couch. I put my arm round her shoulders and pulled Erin close. "You okay?" I offered, "Yeah it's just been a long couple of weeks." She replied as someone knocked on the door. I nodded in agreement and gave her a quick kiss on the head before going answer the door. I assumed it would be the take out so I grabbed my wallet off the table as I passed. I opened the door to someone I never expected to see, my sister, Rachel. She stood outside the door with heavy eyes, she looked like she had been crying. "Rach....what are you doing here? How did you know I was here? Is everything alright?" I questioned. Before I could get a reply she burst out crying and ran straight into my arms. I managed to catch her and help her inside and over to the couch. "Erin this is my sister Rachel." I said with a worried and slightly confused expression on my face. "I'll give you two a minute" Erin said whilst squeezing my shoulder before heading to her bedroom. Once Rachel had calmed down she finally began to answer some of my questions. "I know this must come as a surprise considering we haven't seen each other in years, but I had to come Jay, it's really important." I just looked at Rachel and she continued. "I dropped by your work tonight to see if you were there but they said you had just left, so I went back to the parking lot and saw you driving away, that's how I found you........" "...The reason I came to visit you is I need to tell you about mum.." At that point it was like I just stopped listening I couldn't take in anymore information, something is wrong with my mum! "She....doesn't have....long left Jay, you need to see her" Rachel stammered through her tears. "Do..do you have somewhere to stay?" I asked still in shock. Rachel shook her head so I told her she could stay here I knew Erin wouldn't mind.

Erin's POV
Everything had went quiet in the living room so I came out of my room and headed along the hall to ding Jay sitting in the couch in a pool of his own tears. "Hey...hey, what wrong Jay?" I said whilst engulfing him in a hug. I got no reply but I felt his grip tighten round me so I knew it was something big. I continued to hug him until he started to settle a bit, and eventually he pulled away and looked at me. I took my thumb and rubbed the stray tears away, whilst Jay began to elaborate. "It's.....its my mum, Erin, she is....eh....she is dying." Is all he managed to say before I wrapped my arms around him again, however this time it was tighter a sympathetic, "I'm sorry" kind of hug.
