Your feet slammed against the hallway floor as you sprinted for your life, arms pumping like you were in the goddamn Olympics.
You didn’t look back.
Not once.
Rule number one when you’re being chased by Baro freakin’ Shoei?
Don’t. Look. Back.
Your brain was screaming. Your lungs were on fire. But your survival instincts were in full control now.
“GO GO GO—” you whispered to yourself, legs flying down the corridor. “I can make it. I can live. I’m too pretty to die—”
Then—
A roar behind you.
“YOU CALLED ME A SERVANT?!”
Oh god.
He heard you.
You risked a glance over your shoulder for half a second—
Big mistake.
Baro was coming at you like a vengeful lion, eyes blazing, muscles tense, pure murder in his expression.
“I said it with love!!” you yelled over your shoulder, trying to reason with the beast behind you.
Baro didn’t even slow down.
“YOU’RE DEAD!! YOU HEAR ME?! DEAD!! I’M GONNA TIE YOU UP AND MAKE YOU CLEAN MY SHOES WITH A TOOTHBRUSH—!”
“OKAY BUT THEY WERE DIRTY!!” you shrieked, turning a corner like your life depended on it—which, to be fair, it did.
Your socks slipped on the tile and you nearly faceplanted into a vending machine.
Meanwhile, Baro was gaining.
He sounded closer.
Louder.
Angrier.
“I’m sorry!! I’m sorry!! You’re a king, okay?! A king!!” you gasped.
“TOO LATE FOR APOLOGIES!!” Baro howled.
Somewhere in the distance, someone opened a door to peek out—
—and immediately closed it again like, “Nope. Not my problem.”
You turned another corner, nearly knocking over Niko in the process.
“HELP ME—Baro’s trying to kill me!!”
Niko looked you up and down, then looked at the demonic footballer barreling toward you.
“...Yeah, you’re on your own,” he said and stepped aside.
“TRAITOR!!” you yelled as you vanished around another corner.
Baro’s voice thundered after you.
“CALL ME A SERVANT ONE MORE TIME—!”
And you just kept running.
Because death by Baro?
Yeah.
Not on your to-do list today.
But to understand how you ended up sprinting for your damn life with Baro Shoei foaming at the mouth behind you, ready to end your bloodline—
We need to rewind.
