Isagi didn't waste a second. His boots slammed against the turf as he dashed across the pitch, heart pounding in his ears, Ego's words still echoing like a ticking bomb.
"Tell Yukimiya... to start."
He scanned the field-eyes locking onto Yukimiya, who was just jogging back after a pass, sweat dripping down his temple, unaware of the storm about to hit.
Isagi didn't shout. He closed the distance, quick and silent.
"Yukimiya," he muttered as he caught up beside him.
Yukimiya turned, a bit surprised. "What?"
Isagi leaned in, breath sharp, eyes intense.
"Ego said... it's time. Do what he told you."
Yukimiya froze mid-step.
A flicker of recognition crossed his face.
For a second, nothing moved. Then, like a veil being torn away, something shifted in his entire posture-his eyes darkened, his jaw clenched.
He didn't nod.
Didn't speak.
Just muttered under his breath, almost too low for anyone but Isagi to hear:
"Tch. So it's finally time, huh..."
And then-he moved
Like a different person entirely.
Whatever Ego had told him in secret... whatever twisted piece of the plan was waiting to unfold...
His steps were sharper. His gaze had gone cold. It was like something inside him had been caged all this time...
Isagi couldn't help it.
"What the hell did he tell you?" he asked, voice low, cautious.
Yukimiya didn't look at him. He just kept moving, eyes locked on the ball like a sniper tracking a target.
"...You'll see," he said.
That was it.
Two words.
But something in the way he said it made the hairs on the back of Isagi's neck stand.
Isagi's fists clenched.
Ego... what the hell are you playing at?
He didn't get an answer.
Because the next second, Yukimiya exploded forward like a bullet-vanishing into the chaos of the match, ready to flip the game on its head.
And Isagi knew one thing for sure:
Whatever this role was...
It wasn't normal.
It wasn't safe.
And it was definitely not part of any plan he'd ever seen
...........................
The ref's whistle blew-sharp and cold.
Game resumed.
Isagi and Rin took off like bullets, passing fast and clean, slicing through midfield with surgical precision.
Baro wasn't far behind, charging up the left like a wild lion ready to strike.
Hayate saw it, anticipated the danger, and immediately cut toward Baro, bracing for the inevitable pass.
