The wind blew slowly and heavily, thick with suffocating tension. Guards stood just near the palace's gate, their alert eyes locked on two figures they had been hunting for over the past few months, and finding others for the past year.
Stunned by their presence here—Alone. Without any Army.
What the hell were they thinking...?
That question rang in their mind, but none dared to move an inch. They stood frozen and alert, unwilling to make even the slightest mistake.
Not even with the shield of Diego. Not with her present here.
Althea.
The dark witch stood barely restrained by the storm of energy swirling around her. Rage radiated from her in waves, her eyes consumed by darkness, as if she were the Darkness.
Dacian was no less.
The eyes of that tiger beast glowed with an unnatural color, and his jaw clenched so tightly that the veins in his head popped out.
They cared less about why he looked enraged, but they all had one idea. These two... were not here to just talk. Their presence would bring nothing but ruin.
Their king wouldn't let them leave alive.
Dacian's blood simmered with rage with each passing moment, recalling the moments when all the clan leaders had backed off from the war they had prepared for, after Diego had destroyed several clans in mere hours.
The remaining clan leaders, who were all ready to fight against Diego, became scared and backed off, leaving the place with their soldiers, thereby leaving the two alone.
That was the Fear. Of Diego Xendar King.
Capable of destroying the clans in a few moments.
They had no army and no soldiers to fight against him. Just themselves.
They were left with no choice, realizing this was the end. So, whether they have an army or not, it makes no difference.
It was a do-or-die situation.
"Where is your king?" Althea's maniacal and unyielding voice rang out as she stepped closer to the border, standing just a step away from entering the border.
The guards exchanged an uncertain glance, unsure whether they should answer her, but then-
"You're very eager to meet your death, Althea!" A beastly voice growled from behind as they turned and saw Diego standing there, his beastly gaze fixed on Althea and Dacian with lethal precision.
Standing a bit away from the border, his gaze glaring at Althea and then going to Dacian, who was equally glaring at him.
"I warned you, Althea..." Diego growled, his voice low and venomous, taking her to the vow he spat on her face, "The moment you stand in front of me again... will your last day!"
Althea's fist clenched, fury boiling inside her, as she stared into those familiar golden eyes, which once were blank and obeyed her without a thought. Now, they held such arrogance and hatred.
These golden eyes that hunted them and forced them to hide like cowards. The eyes that killed Arthur and Cedric. The same beast who tortured the sage before killing her!
This thing—This monster had destroyed everything she once controlled.
"It was my MISTAKE!" Althea screamed, her voice cracking with rage. Her dark aura spiraled around her hand before gathering under her palm, condensing into a ball of corrupted energy.
