The next few hours passed in the blink of an eye. Myra had decided to stay in the office all day. And it was nearly 8 PM, and Myra sat in his office, with a book in her hands, sitting on the sofa.

Diego had told her that he had one last meeting till 8 PM, after which they could leave. Myra wanted to go out and eat at a restaurant.

Seeing the time, Myra decided to pack the things, so that once Diego comes back, they could just leave.

Packing her bag, she left the office. She walked through the corridor when a scene happening in front halted her in her steps.

Her eyes narrowed with a suspicious and unpleasant gaze in them as she looked at the scene unfolding before her.

Diego, his assistant, another man, and a woman were standing there in front of the reception area of the floor, discussing something.

But the thing that stung her eyes was the way that woman smiled at Diego. Diego just kept a poker face, shaking his head slightly at the woman's words.

"Why is she smiling so much?" A sudden frustration screamed in her head as she clutched the handle of her bag tightly in her hand.

Her heart burned the way that good-for-nothing woman kept smiling at her husband.

"Stop it already! You're not looking that fine while smiling. With those crooked teeth." Myra mumbled as she slowly moved forward towards them, completely displeased by the presence of this woman.

Myra's steps echoed softly against the polished floor as she neared the group. Every smile that woman flashed at Diego only fueled the fire curling inside her chest.

Her blood boiled, her grip tightening around her bag strap until her knuckles turned white.

Diego sensed her before he even saw her. His beast perked up instantly, recognizing his mate's presence.

"Myra," Diego greeted as she finally reached them, his deep voice carrying a warmth he hadn't shown the others all evening. His gaze softened instantly, all focus shifting to her.

The woman, however, wasn't quick enough to take the hint. She leaned slightly closer to Diego, still smiling as though trying to charm him.

That was the final straw.

Myra slid her arm through Diego's with sharp precision, pulling herself flush against his side. She tilted her head, looking directly at the woman with a sweet smile that didn't reach her eyes.

"And who is this?" Diego's gaze narrowed slightly, as if trying to understand the reason behind her fake tone, which she never used.

He could hear the venom under her sugary tone. "She's from the partnering company," he replied casually.

"Oh, is she now?" Myra's smile brightened, though her eyes gleamed with steel. "Funny. Because from here, it looked more like she was auditioning to be a toothpaste model. All that unnecessary smiling must hurt her jaw."

Diego coughed lightly into his fist, hiding the chuckle that threatened to escape, with underlying amusement at her words.

His assistant quickly looked away, pretending to read notes, while the man standing beside the other woman shuffled awkwardly.

The woman's smile faltered, not expecting such words from Myra, on the first meeting. "I-I was just—"

Myra cut her off smoothly, her voice deceptively soft as she tightly held Diego's arm in a possessive grip.
