In the palace kitchen, a gentle tune drifted from Myra's phone. She hummed along, swaying to the music as she whisked together ingredients, preparing the dish she'd been craving all day.
Wearing a black apron over her light blue dress, she moved with an easy, natural grace. A sweet smile played over her lips, showing how much she enjoyed this quiet moment to herself.
It was evening when a car stopped outside the palace gates. Diego stepped out and walked straight inside. He made his way towards their bedroom, but paused when he heard music echoing through the walls.
His eyes shifted towards the kitchen, and without thinking, he followed the sound.
Standing at the doorway of the kitchen, his eyes narrowed at the sight before him—Myra absorbed in preparing something.
"Moon..." Diego called out softly, taking slow steps towards her. The moment Myra looked up at Diego, she instantly understood what he was about to say.
Diego walked towards her, saying, "I've told you before-" But his words cut off mid-sentence when he suddenly bumped into something solid in front of him. He stumbled back a step, blinking, "What the..!"
Diego looked up, finding a faint, rippling shimmer in the air. An Invisible shield that pulsed gently, pushing his back.
Realising who was behind this, he turned to Myra. She met his eyes with a look that clearly said, Don't even start, hubby.
"Now, you're using your powers on me..." Diego muttered, both annoyed and a little amused.
"Yeah." Myra replied with a shrug, mocking nonchalance. "I know you'd try to stop me. That's why stopped you." She smirked lightly, "With my powers."
"Of course I'll stop you, moon," Diego stated as he stepped aside, trying to slip around the barrier. But Myra shifted her shield with him, making him bump into it again.
Diego sighed, taking a step back before rubbing the spot on his forehead where he'd hit the shield.
"You're close to your due date, moon. You should rest." Diego's tone shifted to softer and full of worry, as he tried to move around. And again, the shield stopped him.
"I know," Myra replied, still focused on what she was doing as she put the pan on the gas stove. "But, I'm fine. It's just a minor back pain. Otherwise, I'm completely fine." Myra told him, moving to the other side of the kitchen with slow and careful steps, never once looking worried.
"You should've told maids if you wanted to eat something, Moon." Diego stated, still unconvinced by her demand to cook for herself.
"But, I want to do it!" Myra said stubbornly, turning to look at him, setting the container on the kitchen counter. "And I will." Her tone left no room for argument before she turned back to her work.
"Okay!" Diego sighed, finally giving in to her demand, "But at least let me help you." His voice softened, almost pleading.
It was nearly the end of her nine months, and the due date was close. As a result, Diego had become extremely protective of her.
He barely let her pick up a spoon. He had even shifted their bedroom to the ground floor, so she wouldn't have to climb down the stairs.
And yet here she was—standing in the kitchen, cooking by herself, instead of simply giving instructions to a maid.
"No!" Myra shot back immediately, "Because I know exactly what kind of help you're planning in that head of yours. You'll make me sit on the counter and then do all the cooking by yourself, not letting me do anything."
