Chapter 43

SAM'S POV

I land in the cold water feet first. I surface the water take a huge breath and dive back under.

I look around the murky water for Meadow. But I couldn't see here. That's when something catches my eye. Her blonde hair. I see her body sinking down to the river bed she wasn't struggling so she must be unconscious.

I dive deeper reaching out for Meadow. I wrap my arm around her waist and swim up. With my other arm I'm using to help me swim faster. my legs are moving the fastest they've ever moved in my life.

I finally reach the surface I take a huge breath of air. I then swim to the river bank. I scoop up Meadow's body in bridal style and run up the river bank to dry land.

I place her body down quickly but gently and then I start to cry. Tears stream down my face as I watch the love of my life hardly hold onto life.

I notice that Meadow's body is freezing so I wrap myself around her to warm her up. I link my arms around her neck pulling her close to my body. I loved when we use to cuddle like this, love filled with every hug, but that is only what I feel now.

I pull away and look at her face. I feel hopeless, I don't know what to do. I've never been in this situation before, I learnt something at school but like always I've forgotten it.

I let more tears fall down my face as scream for help.

"SOMEONE PLEASE, HELP! HELP!" I repeat this at least 100 times before I give up. As Meadows breathing became slower, my hope for her survival decreases.

Just as I'm about to lose everything, I hear sirens coming closer. They get louder every second. I smile and sigh with relief as it floods my body. Finally help is here and I won't lose what I love most. I lay down next to Meadow and I hear the paramedics shout that they are here.

To reassure Meadow that everything is going to be okay, I whisper in her ear.

"Don't worry Meadow, Help is here now. And I promise nothing like this will ever happen again."
