I woke up to Nugget breathing in my face and a cramp in my back that made me rethink everything I ever said about pregnancy not being that bad.
I swear, this baby already has a bad attitude. Every time I find a comfortable position, it's like they roll their eyes from the inside and kick my bladder just to bother me.
I sat up slowly, rubbing my stomach like I always do first thing in the morning. "Okay, good morning," I whispered, yawning.
Miracle was still knocked out on the edge of the bed, bonnet halfway off and arms spread like she work 3 jobs. I leaned over and pulled the blanket back up on her shoulders before sliding out from under the covers.
My feet hit the cold floor and I winced. Nugget followed me like he had a job to do, sniffing around the door like he was ready for the morning shift.
"You just gone follow me everywhere, huh?" I mumbled, grabbing my hoodie off the chair. "Alright, come on."
Me and nugget walked out the front door making our way door the stairs of the apartment. I felt a small breeze sending a shiver through my body.
I watched as nugget zoomed across the grass as if he didn't just wake up no more than 10 minutes ago. He stop after a while sniffing around the grass looking for a place to pee.
"You went potty, good boy" I said giving him a little treat . I picked him up petting his head as I headed back into the apartment.
The apartment was quiet that peaceful kind of quiet you only get when everybody's still asleep, and the sun ain't too harsh yet. I made my way to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and stood there for a second just... thinking.
Sometimes it still hit me outta nowhere.
I'm pregnant.
Not just "late" or "I think something might be off." Like... full-blown, showing-in-the-mirror, there's-a-whole-human-in-me pregnant.
And what's crazy is, I don't feel like I was falling apart anymore. Not in the way I thought I would.
I poured some juice and leaned against the counter, watching Nugget spin in circles chasing his tail. We really got a whole dog. A whole baby on the way. And somehow, I didn't feel like the world was ending.
I felt... weirdly okay.
Like I was finally starting to believe that i can get through this, with some help at least.
