I woke up feeling the sun on my face, warm and bright, creeping through the blinds. The bed felt cozy and crowded in the best way possible.
Smoke's arm was draped over my stomach, heavy but comforting, while Amora was tucked into my side, her leg thrown over mine fitting like the perfect puzzle piece.
I shifted slightly, careful not to wake them, but Smoke stirred anyway, his voice still deep with sleep. "Why you moving like that?"
"Because you hog the bed," I whispered, smirking despite the morning haze.
He chuckled, pulling me closer instead of letting go. "You love it."
Before I could respond, Amora groaned dramatically, stretching her arms above her head. "Why is y'all up so early?"
I glanced at the clock. "It's literally seven." She rolled onto her back, completely unimpressed. "Seven is too early."
Smoke pushed himself up, rubbing his face. "I'm about to make breakfast. Y'all want anything?" Amora's eyebrows shot up. "You cook now?"
He smirked, brushing past her on his way to the kitchen. "I've always cooked. You just ain't never been around for it."
She laughed, standing up and stretching. "Okay then, chef. Surprise me."
He leaned down, kissed my forehead, and hesitated for half a second before pressing a soft, quick kiss to Amora's cheek.
Seeing her reaction made my chest do that stupid little flip it always did.
In the kitchen, I sat back, pretending to scroll through my phone, while Smoke and Amora moved around each other.
She leaned against the counter while he cracked eggs, teasing her about putting too much salt in the pan.
"So you really don't get jealous?" she asked, tilting her head.
Smoke shrugged, flipping an egg like it was nothing. "Why would I? You make her happy. And you cool as hell."
She smiled softly. "You don't feel... replaced?" He looked at her, serious but calm.
"Nah. If anything, I like this. Feels like we building something instead of fighting over nothing."
I leaned against the counter nearby, pretending not to listen, but my chest felt heavy . Hearing them talk like this made me feel like everything was finally... aligned.
When breakfast was ready, we all sat at the table, laughing at the dumbest jokes.
Smoke teased Amora about drowning her eggs in hot sauce, and she shot back like it was a full-on competition.
"You got no taste buds," he told her.
"And you boring," she shot back. "That's why Skylar needs me."
