Aight, so just to let you all know:
Nothing from the series has happened in this story. The Stabler kids alive are Lizzie and Dickie. None of the others exist. Elliot has sole custody of them. Reason? To be discovered. 😁 But, anyways, things from the series will start happening. Not from every episode, but a few things. Olivia joined the squad right around the Streetwise episode. That's where all the homicides and things Olivia was having trouble with came from. IK it wasn't triple rape/homicide but yeah. An 11 year old was killed and that's really harsh. It is now, in the story, right before the Undercover episode. Just wanted to make that all clear 😀

"Kat is in therapy. Mikey is being remanded until trial. Why?"

Nicole figured this much. Kat would definitely need help. And Mikey? That sick bastard needed to be held.

The teen texted back, "just wondering why Kat wasn't talking to me..."

"It's going to take time. What happened to her was traumatizing."

"I know. I just wish she would".

"Talk to your mom about it. She wants to be able to talk to you again."

That's really not the best idea, Nicole thought. Her friends all thought she was some unfair whore.

Nicole put her phone down on the couch cushion beside her. After rubbing her eyes with the heels of her hands, she ran her fingers through her hair, gently scratching her scalp. The silky strands fell back into place easily, but she flipped her head to the side so they got a little messed up.

"Well can't I- No, I understand. It's just, the kids," Nicole heard. She looked up and saw her mother on the phone, walking into the room. She watched as Olivia walked to the kitchen, leaning over the island. She could see the vein popping out of her forehead, which only did when she got very stressed.

"I can't ask him to do that, Captain. I don't want to leave Nic-" Her mother stopped talking abruptly again.

"Alright, alright, I'll let him check in. I'll be at the precinct in a half hour. Okay. Bye."

Olivia looked up and locked eyes on her daughter, who was confusedly staring back. Olivia looked back down, not able to say what she had to. "Don't hate me," was all she could muster.

"What?" Nicole asked.

"I have to go undercover. Elliot's gonna check in on you guys."

Nicole nodded, looking down while sucking part of her lower lip into her mouth. "Alright," she said, a minute later.

"You're not mad?" Olivia asked, surprised by her daughter's tone.

"Well I'm not happy. But I'm not not happy." Nicole wasn't sure how she felt. She assumed her mother had gone undercover all the time, she probably just never knew. Her father shielded the children from her mother's work, as best he could.

Olivia gave Nicole a confused look but nodded. "Okay. Are you sure you're-"

"Yes, Mom," Nicole cut off. "We'll be fine. How long?"

"Anywhere from a few days to a couple weeks. Shouldn't be too long to catch this guy, but still."

The word 'weeks' stuck in Nicole's head. Weeks without her mom? Aught to be back to her old work schedule, Nicole thought.

Nicole nodded again. "Just be careful."

Olivia nodded, saying, "I'm always careful," while reaching towards Her daughter for a hug. Nicole allowed it, wrapping her arms around the body reaching to her.
