Rick watched out the window as the girls left, being a protective cop, in all. He saw them walk down a crowded street and assumed they were safe, knowing Nicole and Lizzie both knew how to protect themselves.
He went to help Zach sort candy, and when he was done, the kid fell asleep.
Rick went back to check on Paige, then to the living room. He was surprised how much the apartment was the same, even though it was so different from their old Jersey house. The kitchen was set up the same exact way: appliances on the countertop, cups and bowls and plates are organized just so. The fridge was still stocked the same way. Even the mail was scattered on the island
Wait, he thought to himself.
He knew Olivia and he knew she wouldn't mind him snooping. Well, for this reason anyways. He saw letters on the counter, all stuffed in some envelope.
He read the letter and knew it was from a jail, noting the postage.
Peter, he registered, starting to fume. He did not get to be back in their lives. He physically hurt his wife and daughter, mentally scarred all of his family. That prick better had be rotting in jail.
Well, obviously he was, but he knew he'd have to talk to Olivia about that.

The girls took some shortcuts and got to Lizzie's neighborhood quickly. She told Nicole that most people don't like handing out candy, so they leave bowls outside.
And yeah, call it a dick move to steal all the candy, but the kids were done for the night.
Nicole had her own pillowcase, as did Lizzie and they each took turns pouring whatever was left in bowls at each house into their bags. Once they were done - about an hour later - they both had a completely full pillowcase. Very heavy pillowcases.
"Let's go back to my house," Lizzie told Nicole.
"Okay."
They went to the Stabler residence and emptied their entire contents onto the living room floor. Like two children, they began to sort.
They separated by kind, and then into three sections. There was so much candy they had to get masking tape on the floor to keep the areas separated: candy they both liked, candy only Lizzie liked, and candy only Nicole liked.
All Tootsie Rolls went to Lizzie, along with Milky Ways, Whoppers, and candy corn. Nicole got the Pay Days, anything sour, and taffies. It was, surpringly, pretty even. Which meant they could evenly split all the candy both of them liked.
After they were done sorting, they decided to pack up. They found big shopping bags and doubled them up, so the candy wouldn't make the bags break. Then they walked back to Nicole's.
When they got there, Rick was watching some Halloween themed cooking show.
"Damn, where did all that come from?" he asked when he saw them.
"My neighborhood is full of lazy people, and not enough kids," Lizzie explained.
"Damn, we should do this every year," Nicole said. "So much more candy than ever before."
