"Can we go get something to eat today? For lunch?"

Olivia stared at the text, wondering whether or not to even reply. Should she go?

Well, she did have to talk to Elliot. Better sooner than later, she supposed.

"Okay. Diner by the precinct. 12:30."

Olivia waited, drinking her water. She was a nervous wreck, but tried to keep herself calm.

But then she saw Elliot, and all her jitter-relaxation attempts had been shot to hell.

Olivia picked a table in the back of the restaurant, a long booth along the entire back length of the wall. Elliot sat down across from her, in the chair at their small table.

Olivia didn't talk at first, as Elliot expected her not to. So he did. "Look. I know your life isn't the easiest thing to live right now-"

"No!" Olivia interrupted. "My life has never been easy. It's not just right now! It never will be easy! I-"

Elliot moved to the booth side of their table and sat next to her. She instantly put her face in his chest and he held her. She started to cry.

"Elliot...I'm pregnant. I-It's...yours," she whispered. "I can't-"

He already knew this, so he wasn't shocked. He interrupted her.

"Can't what? Can't do it? Olivia, yes you can. I'm not going anywhere."

"It's not that. Elliot, we can't keep doing this! We crossed the line! We just...what would IAB think? Or do? They'll send me back to Jersey!"

"I would cross that line again and again, Liv. If anyone is being transferred, it's to homicide, and it's gonna be me. I know how important this job is to you."

Olivia took a breath and held it, forcing her tears to stop. Relief started to fill her chest, even though she should have known that Elliot wouldn't leave her.

Her brown eyes flicked up to him and nodded. "Okay," she whispered.

"I'm gonna take care of us, okay? Me, you, and all of those damn kids."

He got Olivia to crack a little smile, even huff out the tiniest of laughs. Maybe, just maybe, she would be alright.

"Okay, we have to talk to all of you about something," Elliot started.

All of the children were standing in a semicircle around the two detectives.

"So...me and Olivia are having a baby."

There was honestly no better way for him to say that. How else could he?

Paige didn't understand and went to crawl on the floor, pretending to be some sort of bear. Zach said, "Another one? I'm already a middle kid, Mom."

"And now you'll be the older middle kid!" Nicole joked, picking her brother up and tickling him until he forced himself out of her grasp and to the ground.

Nicole already knew but the true shock came from the twins.

Their father and Olivia...ugh, gross! Lizzie even whispered to Nicole, "Damn you were right."

Of course she was. She knew what signs to a pregnancy looked like.

"Okay," Lizzie said. There wasn't really much else to say.

"I know this is going to be different. You all will be spending quite a bit of time together now. We all are," Olivia said.

The kids all understood. Lizzie and Nicole already were together at least 8 hours of the day. It wouldn't be a problem.

Or would it?

"Liz, I honestly think you're overreacting," Dickie said calmly.

"It's not gonna make me stop thinking that way!" Lizzie replied in a loud whisper.

"That's not why they had sex, alright? They probably got drunk after work."

"B-But he didn't have actual kids! He knew Olivia would be in rebound mode! Why not knock her-"

"Liz!" Dickie scolded, but then went to hug her. "He does have actual kids. We are his kids. He loves us more than anything."

Lizzie started to weep, for who knows what reason. Was it what she just told her brother? Or was it the fact her biological parents didn't love her? Didn't want her? That she never had a 'normal' childhood? She didn't know.

Dickie held his sister the way he always had when they were alone. When she cried and needed someone to comfort her. They always had each other.

"Dad loves you. He loves you so much. But, things happen. Whether they are dating or if was just a drunken sex thing, we're going to have a brother or sister. And two extra sisters and a brother. But he loves you. Never forget that."

"Where does this leave them, though? Olivia and Dad?"

"I don't know," Dickie replied honestly.

"They hate me!" Olivia announced, hugging herself as tears began to fall.

"No, no, no," Elliot told her, walking to her to wrap his arms around her. She shook her shoulders, however, rejecting his touch. So instead, he made her sit.

"They don't hate you, Liv. They're adjusting. Trust me. They need a mother. And they've never had one of those. Why would they not want one?"

"Because they don't need one! They don't want another brother or sister or...4 more for that matter. They have you and you've always been more than enough for them. I-"

"Stop it," he told Olivia sternly. "What do you mean, they don't want a mother? That's all those two ever wanted! They have a druggie egg donor and their father...who knows where he is. They know I'm their father now, but...they know where they come from. They feel like they're made of drugs sometimes."

That hit Olivia hard. When she was young, she felt she was made of alcohol. Like her blood was vodka instead.

"But they still don't like me," she insisted.

"They do. Stop being so hard in yourself. So you honestly feel like this baby is a mistake? That what we did was a mistake?"

They both knew it wasn't true. She loved him. And the baby, with all her heart. She shook her head.

"Now shh," Elliot told her, now being granted access to wrap his arms around her. "It's gonna be perfect."

Perfect? Olivia didn't object, but she didn't agree either.
