"Hello?" Nicole asked into her phone. Why was Elliot calling her?
Then she thought about it. The only time her mother's old partner ever called her without warning was because her mother got shot. He always texted her when he had to talk to her. Calling meant bad things.
Just as Elliot opened his mouth, he heard a very scared Nicole. "My mom's not hurt or dead, is she?! Is she?!"
Elliot was shocked at the outburst. "God, no! She's fine! Absolutely fine."
"Seriously?"
"Well, she is a little shaken up. I'm gonna pick you all up and we're going to the precinct to see her."
"Only after one night, she's out of the-"
"Yes," Elliot interrupted. "She'll explain why later."
Nicole nodded, though he couldn't see that. "Okay," she said.
With that, she got her siblings ready.
Elliot arrived minutes after he called. He got the car seat out of Olivia's car and hooked it up in his. Nicole walked out of the apartment building holding Paige on her left hip and Zach by his right hand. He honestly didn't want her to, but he knew what could have happened to his mother. He was scared.
They all got in Elliot's car and they drove in silence. They made their way up to the SVU floor and there was no Olivia.
"Where's-"
"Probably where she shouldn't be. Stay here," Elliot interrupted.
They did so. Elliot made his way to the interrogation hall and saw Cragen standing outside one of the rooms. Olivia was in there, cleaned up, hair brushed, clean clothes. He was shocked at her calmness. Harris was right in her face, and she didn't even flinch. Se just confidently asked, "Did I strike a nerve?"
Just then a couple men came down the hallway. Before anyone could react, the one man, introducing himself as the defense attorney, took the perp away from the precinct. He didn't have to stay there. But he did it. He almost raped, and possibly killed Olivia.
But that was so far from her mind right now. She walked out and went straight for Elliot. "Where are they?"
"Right by our desks."
Just as he said that, the woman sprinted down the hall, and out to the bullpen. She saw her three most favorite kids in the world.
Paige was still in Nicole's arms, but started squirming, thrashing. "Mommy!" she yelled.
Nicole set her sister down and she waddle-ran to her mother. In and instant the two were united and Olivia was crying. She reached for her other kids and they hugged her back.
Elliot watched as the woman he fell so hard for bond with her kids. It made him smile.
"Cap," Olivia nearly whispered. "Can I-"
"Go home. Everyone, finish your paperwork and leave as well."
"Well, I assume you need a ride home," Elliot said after coming up behind her.
She turned around and smiled. "Please."
He nodded. "Of course."
They all headed out and went back to Olivia's building.
"Take them upstairs, Nicole?" Olivia requested.
The teenager nodded, doing what she did a half hour ago in reverse.
Elliot got out of the car with Olivia, not sure why. Olivia was glad he did though. Just before she opened the door to her building, she turned around and threw her arms around Elliot's neck.
