Few weeks later....
Jungkook stared at his reflection in the bathroom mirror. Water still clung to his lashes, his jaw set in cold determination. The word wife echoed in his mind like a curse.
"Enough," he muttered to himself. "This ends now."
His phone buzzed.
Soekjin: You okay, Kook?
Jungkook didn’t hesitate.
Jungkook: Can you and Namjoon hyung come over? I need you guys.
Not even five minutes passed before Soekjin responded:
Soekjin: We're on our way.
He changed into a plain black shirt and jeans, stripping off every trace of the carefully constructed image his father forced him into. The suit, the Rolex, the polished shoes—all shoved in a drawer. He wasn’t that puppet anymore.
Downstairs, Jess sat on the couch, pretending to scroll through her phone but her eyes flicked up the moment she heard footsteps.
"You're leaving?" she asked coolly, as if she hadn’t been seething with questions just an hour before.
Jungkook didn’t look at her. "Not yet."
She stood, arms folded. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means,” he said calmly, turning to face her, “I’m done pretending. I never loved you. You were forced into my life by a man who only knows how to control through power.”
Jess’s mask cracked. “How dare you—!”
“How dare he,” Jungkook interrupted. “How dare he use me to fix his dirty image. How dare you let him.”
Jess’s voice dropped. “You can’t just walk away. You married me.”
“I didn’t choose you,” he said quietly. “But I’m choosing to leave.”
The front door opened and in stepped Soekjin and Namjoon. The tension shifted instantly as Jungkook’s hyungs came to his side.
"You sure about this?" Namjoon asked, eyes scanning the room.
Jungkook nodded. “Yeah. I should’ve done it a long time ago.”
Soekjin looked at Jess, then back at Jungkook. “We’ve got you, no matter what.”
Jungkook faced Jess one last time. “You’ll be hearing from my lawyer. Goodbye, Jess.”
And with that, he stepped out the front door, leaving behind the cage that had suffocated him for far too long.
*********
2 weeks later....
The old Jeon mansion stood tall and intimidating — just like the man who ruled it.
Jungkook walked in without knocking, his hyungs behind him like shadows. The butler tried to stop them, but one look from Jungkook sent him backing off.
His father,Papa Jeon, looked up from his desk as the doors swung open. "Jungkook. What is the meaning of this?"
Jungkook stepped forward, eyes cold. “I’m here to tell you I’ve filed for a divorce.”
Silence. Then a slow, incredulous chuckle from his father.
"You think you're free just because you have a degree and a little money now? You're still my son—"
"No," Jungkook snapped. “I’m your prisoner no more.”
Papa Jeon's face darkened. “You’re making a mistake.”
