A/N: Thanks as always to my buddy qazse for help with reactions and to my brother Sai for giving me the script and making the video, "The Bladed Brute! Glavenus Lore". Go watch it first, then come back and read this, or watch along as you read, whatever you want to do. Then share his videos and all that good stuff to help my bro out.
Aiden and Sai were seen having a conversation. "Hey, Sai? You're a fire demon, right? So, have you ever tried lighting your swords on fire when you attack with them?" The Ace Hunter asked, curious if the common trope could actually work.
A few of them gasped at the epic idea of a flaming sword. "That would look so awesome! I saw some girl on our first day at Beacon had a fire sword, but I never got a good look at it!" Ruby said wistfully.
"Heck yeah! Imagine me with a couple of flaming swords! When I use my semblance, I'd just be a tornado of flames if I flail all around like Sai does!" Yang said eagerly.
"Although, then you might run the risk of cutting off some of your own hair if you're not careful." Pyrrha pointed out.
Yang paled at this. "On second thought, I'm happy just observing."
Sai let out a sigh at this as he had his arms crossed. "I have tried it before, yes. But heating up the blade makes them more brittle, making them more likely to break. Plus, it's a little hard to see past a fire DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF YOUR FACE. I have NEVER actually seen it work in practice." The host explained the flaws of the trope to his friend.
However, they soon deflated when he pointed out the flaws. "Aww, man! Why does logic have to ruin everything?!" Nora complained.
"Because logic teaches us what is practical and effective, Nora. And swords that will break from being softened from heat, with flames that blind you, are not effective." Glynda told her, although looked to all the students to make sure they understood.
"Still cool, though..." Jaune groaned.
But then, at that moment, a Glavenus was seen in combat with a Rathian, slashing at her feet with its heated tail blade, which the Rathian took to the air to avoid. She then did a backflip, planning to strike him with her poisonous tail, forcing him to dodge. But then, the Glavenus did a flip of his own and cleanly sliced through all the talons of Rathian's left wing, causing her to flail in pain, before flying away in defeat. The Glavenus then roared proudly in victory as its tail cooled down back to its lovely silver color.
The sound of crickets was heard as Sai observed the display in shock. "I stand corrected." He admitted, clearly impressed with what he had just witnessed.
The students couldn't help but laugh at the silence, even more so after Sai admitted he was wrong. "Yep. I'd say it works just fine for Glavenus." Coco said.
"Well, to be fair, it's not exactly ON FIRE when Glavenus does it, just superheated. A small distinct, but it is not without a difference." Penny noted.
"Plus, that sword is WAY bigger than anything Sai could swing around. Probably harder to break something that big." Qrow pointed out.
Sai was fighting some strange, monstrous executioner, somehow magically controlling countless weapons against the giant axe-wielder. "The art of the blade. A delicate skill that requires one's full time and commitment to finely hone to absolute mastery. While a rare few are prodigies who can master it quickly and others who manage to come up with a way of fighting all their own, these are few and far between." The host spoke eloquently as a girl with fox ears was shown quickly cutting down strange monsters with her blade and icy blue flames, then a silver-haired cyborg was seen stylishly cutting enemies to ribbons, even somehow holding his sword in his heeled foot. "But for the vast majority, it's something that requires a lifetime of training to get a hang of, certainly not something just anyone can do." The Dual Blade-User continued as he knocked the executioner into the air with two curved blades, somehow controlled the blades to hit his target in the air, before he was surrounded by countless weapons that all flew in to strike him at once, causing an explosion.
